The bar, called the Valencia Club, had gone out of business for some time and its liquor license had expired, police said this week.
But the suspect, Travis Lloyd Kevie, 29, somehow got into the California establishment in the Penryn area of Sacramento Valley last week. He reopened the bar using beer he bought from a nearby store.

If he is that resourceful, why is he homeless?
Drugs? Being a drunk? Gambling?
Because the State of California did not get its cut of his sales.
Well, he didn’t exactly “break in”. He was part of a cleaning crew that was there legitimately. He just overstayed his job. Apparently, he was successful running the bar. It’s just that pesky little thing called a LICENSE that’s a problem.
The prperty manager ought to re-instate the license and hire this guy to run the bar. There’s a clientele, and an operating bar will be easier to sell and bring a higher price.
Looks like a good guy
or at least happy.
He has enough money to buy beer to open a bar but not enough money to have shelter?
The spirit of entrepreneurship !
or squattership with big cojones.....whichever.
Beer = $10
Shelter = $1,000
Maybe he was just working his way up?
Or just slept in the back of the bar to increase “profits”.
I still like him.
Entrepreneurship is being destroyed in this country by our army of bureaucrats. They reward the lazy with welfare and regulate the producers out of business.
Guy ought to be nominated to receive the Sac Valley Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
This is a great lesson in how well entrepreneurship pays off when it is unfettered by useless and pesky regulations. (Of course, it does help quite a bit if you don’t have to pay rent, utilities and taxes, either.)
Yeah, with their stellar track record, the State of California should really have a say in who is or isn’t entitled to run a business.
It doesn't take much to be homeless in California -people are ‘group’ renting - each person ‘renting’ a room, even the dining room, for a place to live - and still paying over $1,000 for it.
Combine that with loss of a job - even unemployment isn't going to pay the rent - if you also want to eat, (bet this enterprising guy will be offered jobs)
