TANSTAFL
There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch
That is something we sure don't hear everyday but I bet every Conservative here on Free Republic wishes our Federal government understood the meaning of TANSTAFL.
Now more than ever it is critically important for Conservatives to have Free Republic as our online resource where we can discuss the real news, not the news as the current administration's public relations spin machine is spewing it.
We need Free Republic because it's the premiere Conservative online site where Conservatives can discuss, defend and make cogent arguments about all Conservative issues.
Free Republic is a site where Conservatives give voice to opinions in often heated discussions.
Free Republic also serves as a rallying point where Conservatives can align with other Conservatives and get involved in making our strongly held opinions heard above the fray of leftist bleating.
Conservatives on Free Republic become involved and remain involved in grassroots activism, all while making the steps necessary to return our country to its Conservative principles and standards.
Jim Robinson wrote: "...Thirty four cities, thirty four rallies in 15 days, then on to Washington, DC! And two million of us Marched On DC!..."

A word from Jim Robinson:
Donations needed to keep FR alive!!
Free Republic is currently delivering over 1.2 million pageviews to over 230,000 visitors per day. That's 40 million pageviews to 7 million visitors per month or 120 million pageviews per quarter, 480 million pageviews per year.
We currently have over 350,000 registered screen names on FR. Out of these millions of visits, hundreds of millions of pageviews, hundreds of thousands of registered FReepers and hundreds of thousands of regular lurkers only a relatively FEW actually donate the funds to keep FR alive.
Now, I'm not complaining, because we've always managed to meet our fundraising goals in the past, but it is taking longer and longer to accomplish the task.
And part of that may be because it's mostly the same few dedicated FReepers providing the funds, and, along with the rest of us, I'm sure they're stretched to the limit.
Sure would be nice if a few more FReepers and lurkers would lend a hand and send in a few bucks. Doesn't take much. I think our average donation is around $20, but you can send in $5, $10, $20, $30 or more, and make it a monthly contribution if you can.
A relatively few good FReepers is all it takes to keep FR on the air so that hundreds of thousands of us can join together in kicking liberal butt and continue the fight for our freedom!!
For example, 1,500 dedicated FReepers and lurkers donating an average of $20 each per month is all it takes to continue delivering these hundreds of millions of propaganda-fighting, pro-liberty pages to tens of millions of readers every year.
How many concerned citizens and potential voters can we reach for a tiny fraction of a cent per page? FR delivers a BIG bang for the buck!!
Thank you for providing the bang AND the buck!!
If you enjoy posting and or reading FR and have never donated before, please consider doing so today. You can donate by secure server using PayPal or Credit Card by clicking the link below:
https://secure.freerepublic.com/donate
Or send your checks or money orders to:
Free Republic, LLC
PO Box 9771
Fresno, CA 93794
Free Republic is funded solely by donations from our readers and participants.
Thank you all very much for your continuing participation and support!! The battles of Lexington and Concord begin anew today. Prayers for our country and our Liberty!!

Thank you, Minnesota!
A significant part of my family tree comes from Norway through Minnesota so I feel comfortable in posting these stories about Ole and Lena.
Hope you enjoy them!
Ole and Lena got married. On their honeymoon trip they were nearing Minneapolis when Ole put his hand on Lena's knee. Giggling, Lena Said, "Ole, you can go farther if ya vant to"... so Ole drove to Duluth.
-Author Unknown
~~~~~
One night, a torrential rain soaked northwestern Minnesota. The next morning the resulting floodwaters came up about 6 feet into most of the homes there.
Mrs. Johnson was sitting on her roof with her neighbor, Lena, waiting for help to come. Mrs. Johnson noticed a baseball cap, floating near the house.
Then she saw it float far out into the front yard, then float back to the house; it kept floating away from the house, then back towards the house.
Her curiosity got the best of her, so she asked Lena, "Do you see dat der baseball cap a floatin' away from da house, den back again?"
Lena said, "Oh yeah, dats my husband Ole; I tole dat lazy-such and such he vasgonna cut da grass today, come hell or high water!!!!
~~~~~
Lena passed away and Ole called 911. The 911 operator told Ole that she would send someone out right away. "Where do you live?" asked the operator. Ole replied, "At the end of Eucalyptus Drive." "Can you spell that for me?" the operator asked. There was a long pause and finally Ole said, "How 'bout if I drag her over to Oak Street and you pick her up der?"
-Author Unknown
~~~~~
Ole and Lena were at the kitchen table for the usual morning cup of coffee and listening to a weather report coming from the radio.
"There will be 3 to 5 inches of snow today and a snow emergency has been declared. All vehicles should be parked on the odd-numbered side of the streets today to facilitate snowplows," the radio voice declared.
"Oh, gosh, OK," said Ole, getting up, bundling up and heading outside to dutifully put his car on the odd-numbered side of the street.
Two days later, Ole and Lena were at morning coffee when the radio voice said:
"There will be 2 to 4 inches of snow today and a snow emergency has been declared. You must park your vehicles on the even-numbered side of the streets."
Ole got up from his coffee as before. He bundled up, shuffled off, and put his car on the even-numbered side of the street.
A few days later, the couple was at the table when the radio voice declared:
"There will be 6 to 8 inches of snow today and a snow emergency has been declared. You must park your cars on the ..." Just then, the power went out.
"Park it where?" Ole asked in the dark, "What should I do?"
"Aw, to heck with them, Ole," Lena said, "Don't worry about it today. Just leave the car in the garage."
