AN FRANCISCO – The landmark federal trial over the constitutionality of California's gay marriage ban resumed Wednesday, with a lawyer arguing that supporters of the ban were trying to deprive same-sex couples of a relationship the U.S. Supreme Court has recognized as a fundamental right.

Chief U.S. Judge Vaughn Walker set aside five hours to hear closing arguments in the closely watched case.

Former U.S. Solicitor General Theodore Olson argued for the two same-sex couples who sued to overturn voter-approved Proposition 8, claiming it was a violation of their civil rights.

They have the same rights that I do. They want more rights than the rest of us.

Like a father resenting the fact that he can't suffer child birth pangs!

How unfair is that?

Or two oranges resenting the fact that they, by themselves, can’t be a fruit salad!

Rights are given by God.
When states give rights states can take away rights .
When states claim they give rights they can take away rights.
Gay marriage is not a God given right.

People who wish to destroy God and remove him from the country push our God given rights to the state thus allowing the state to take them away!
Depending how corrupt the state becomes. Dictates how few right you will have if any.
People who do not produce or are not wanted could be exterminated. It has happened many times before and could happen again.
I hope the people pushing the more government and sucking off the system realize that once the government becomes so powerful their existence will be put in doubt and objections to the government will not be tolerated!

“They have the same rights that I do.”

Exactly. It’s illegal for ANY man to marry another man, and for ANY woman to marry another woman. It’s the same for everyone-the ‘equal protection’ argument is a red herring.

claiming it was a violation of their civil rights.

To legally be allowed to be a deviant is a civil right?

Striking down Bowers v. Hardwick is one thing, granting homosexuals the right to marry the same sex is quite another. I do not think Kennedy is there....yet.

So if 2 gays have the same rights as 1 person, do 4 women and 1 man have the same rights? If a gay can marry another gay, can a straight man marry more than 1 woman or is there another super secret rule? Sorry to open up another can of worms, but this is what happens when we move that line.

Gays are free to fornicate, spread disease, sin against God and be the perverts that they are. They have no right to be married as man and wife

And Vaughn is a homosexual. Of course, in CA judges who are members of the Boy Scouts of American cannot sit in any court when there is a homosexual issue, but an avowed homosexual can sit on said cases.

It's pure Evil.

There is no higher power and authority than God. God does not give these kooks such rights NOR does the government of the people -the people have spoken clearly. What authority and basis are these perverts petitioning and premising this 'right' on now?

These leftists are clueless and blind in their pursuit of self destruction...

There is no right to marry. You cannot force a partner to accept you. There is simply a right “to pursue happiness.”. Nor is there a right to own a house. Pursue happiness.

Marriage is a social contract for potentially raising children and providing a protective covering for them and mother

This proves that, after payment of a retainer, a lawyer can be made to say anything. He/she is just another kind of actor.

Guess I haven't been following the news. Since when is W's Solicitor General on the gay rights side?

I think we've already lost the war on marriage. When I was growing up, nobody in my large, extended family would dream of getting a divorce. "Till death do us part" meant just that. Nowadays, no big deal.

From what I have read, Ted Olson has been working on thus case for at least a year.

Olson is a damn good lawyer and this SCOTUS likes the Equal Protection Clause.
