All of my boy cousins learned to fly and soloed in high school. Most of them have planes and still fly today. I don’t think my relatives were bad parents. But if you are saying you flew around the world, unaccompanied, at age 14, I am in awe. What a guy.

No. I never flew around the World.

We obviously have different perspectives on this subject. My wife and I wouldn't want our daughter doing that but we are not a nautical family nor is our daughter a sailor.

Sixteen year olds used to be expected to function as adults. For a competent sailor that is mature for her age to attempt such a voyage in a vessel a seasoned captain couldn't begin to dream about 100 years ago does present risk but not to the point of being reckless or foolhardy IMO.
