More likely envy is a root of criticism.
Do you criticize liberals because of envy? Or because you think they're stupid?
Look back at the context. I was drawing attention to the misuse of the word "jealousy." It is not a synonym of "envy."

Well the online dictionary lists it as a synonym and so does my 1978 Thesaurus. *shrug*
