You have an odd perspective on relative risk, or perhaps I should point out, you have no perspective whatsoever. When you were at university, by any chance were you required to take a course called probability and statistics? Have you ever heard of that? Do you know how it works? re you aware that insurance actuaries calculate risk? Do you know HOW they calculate risk? If you really think letting your kids drive, or water ski or learn to fly an airplane are the statistically equivalent risks of letting them sail around the world alone on a boat, why do you let your kids do those things?
Risk - so how many teens sailing around the world DIE? As an absolute number and as a percentage. Ditto teen drivers. Gather that data, get back to me when you have it.
