Amazes me the drooling emotional “you go girl” Oprah-esque adultion going on.
Amazing. Based on sentimental feelings and perhaps vicarious thrills; I don’t really get it.
Proof that it’s emotion-based is the total intolerance of any view that sees her as anything but a heroine who dreamed the impossible dream, or that her parents should not have put her into such danger merely for name, fame and money.
There are kids that collect winter coats for the needy but they aren't cheering them.
There are kids that collect food for soup kitchens. But they aren't cheering them.
They're cheering a kid that simply WANTED to sail the world.....to benefit no one but herself. And those of us that quietly go about our lives are denigrated because we aren't selfish too. Oprah-esque indeed.
Actually, I started in the middle on the issue. The blind hatred of the Sunderlands drove me into their camp, however.
