We can't even send a manned mission to the moon, even though we accomplished the same feat forty years ago. Did we lose the technology that got us there? No, our technology has advanced tremendously in the past forty years. We lost the spirit.

I am the landlubber wife of a sailor. I have rotten ears. He loves boats, wind and water. He began sailing on Lake Michigan in high school, thanks to the father of a friend. He owns one sailboat in a partnership and is building the second, by himself. If you want it badly enough, it doesn’t have to cost very much. Basically, you just give up most everything else!
He would give an arm to be able to sail around the Horn. His voice cracks when he speaks of this young girl’s accomplishments.
He does think she needed a less frisky boat, though.
