This is the official NOAA forecast on the Deepwater Horizon Response website.

I am pretty sure people in the Tampa area don't realize what is going off the coast.

Please get the word out to people living around there.

Not to worry. Washington will send in the lawyers and fix it. Most likely attempt to take over the oil industry.....something like Chavez.

Our Rush follower is Todd Schnitt. He’s on in some big markets in about a third of the US and is based in Tampa. He a good source for information related to this.

This Schnitt comes across as one big idiot. I cannot stomach him. He is bad for the majority of the Tea Party movement type folks.

I don’t understand why floating barriers of some kind can’t stop the oil. Why is it inevitable it hits land?

After it gets all up and down the FL shores, Obama will give permission to dredge.

It’s not inevitable but the response has been tepid, at best. Everyone is waiting around for BP to do something. I’m not one to look to relying on government, but they have done NOTHING. Every level of government should be dredging berms, dropping booms, etc... and sort it out later. Obviously Zero’s admin is going to do nothing but point fingers, appoint commissions and sue. He’s not a man of action, doesn’t take charge. What did we expect with his history of voting “present”?

Who thought that millions of gallons of oil would not eventually wash ashore? Idiots!!

Is it too late to burn?

The states need to just start taking whatever action they have to instead of proposing stuff to the feds just to have the feds reject it.

Worry about repercussions from the feds later.

Or there won’t be a later.

I found this article - original post was May 9 and it was updated May 22

Excerpt:
Gulf Oil Spill 2010: Plans to evacuate Tampa Bay area are in place

As FEMA and other government agencies prepare for what is now being called by some, the worst oil spill disaster in history, plans to evacuate the Tampa Bay area are in place.

The plans would be announed in the event of a controlled burn of surface oil in the Gulf of Mexico, if wind or other conditions are expected to take the toxic fumes through Tampa Bay.

My question is this:

If they were talking about evacuating Tampa Bay May 9, doesn’t that raise some questions? And what does that conclusion tell you about the folks in Louisiana?

I saw the most gut-wrenching video so far on CNN this morning. The video showed birds so drenched in oil they could hardly move or breathe. Wave kept washing over one bird, and it barely had the strenth to try to keep it`s head above water. Another bird looked dead until it blinked it`s eyes. That all it could do,,,blink it`s eyes. The birds that do have any strength are still trying to clean their feathers by eating the oil, which has the consistency of tar. Imagine what that goo is doing to their stomachs and digestive system. And I can`t even begin to imagine the stress those poor things are going through.

There’s plenty of oil in the ground to go after.

The inaction on the part of too many people is what’s making this such a disaster.

There are plenty of ways of dealing with oil spills and to the best of my knowledge, almost none of them have been even attempted.

The white sand beaches on Florida’s Gulf coast are some of the most beautiful in the world. We’ve vacationed at some of them and it’s just heartbreaking to think of what they’re going to be like when the oil comes ashore.

The coasts of Mississippi and Alabama already have some oil, but who cares? Those aren’t Obama voters in those states.

Obama and his EPA nixed the burn.Because the large bellows of fumes would LOOK BAD.

They are insane.

There are thousands of volunteers at the ready in Tampa Bay to clean up any oil that washes ashore. BP just needs to stop the damn leak.

Today's the 6th. Are there any sightings of oil yet in the Tampa Bay waters as predicted?
