Was the gummit the one who stopped them from doing this in the first place?

Not so fast, there’s still going to be a lot of issues when that oil finds it’s way on shore.

I am glad they stopped the leak, but it’s hardly an Obama victory.

Dunno but this was always high risk that it could make it worse. I want more verification, let’s keep fingers crossed.

The head of BP looked awful on TV last night. Like he’s been run over by a truck.

Thank you lord high Obama, for telling them to “plug the hole”. What would we do without your forceful leadership?

” Sure hope this is true. “

I hope so, too —

But the mental picture that just came to mind is that of Shep Smith standing in the middle of Bourbon Street, the morning after Katrina, saying, “Well, that wasn’t so bad” - while we on FR were watching live-feeds of the levees failing...

It ain’t over ‘til it’s over...

If so, and if Zero keeps on bashing BP, I know what I would say if I was the BP CEO. Zero needs to be put on the spot.

Uhuhuhuhuhuhuhuh...

Not sure what I’m looking at right now but just a few minutes ago there was still a considerable flow but I think it was the mud. Considering the quality of the streaming video, I think BP may have found their true calling.

If this has worked and I pray this is so, it will go down in history as one of the greatest engineering efforts since the Apollo 13 rescue. Nothing short of Herculean.

Well done, all.

Now, for the cleanup.

Followed by cause and corrective action

and all manner of Monday-morning quarterbacking....
followed by witch trials....
etc.

I hope this is true, but the live feed says it’s not. Still a lot of stuff ejecting from the BOP.

True about a lot of issues but those are the ones that the ‘won’ can be seen at making speeches and taking credit for the gov’t on site reponses whereas the plugging procedure is totally out of his hands. Lot more opps for him, imo.

Off topic a little.... I heard this find is HUGE on the order of Saudi Arabian fields. So, assuming that other fields exist in deep water... peak oil is delayed by many years. Correct?

Now can we investigate why permits and equipment were not delivered to the coast line????? and why Obama’s first instinct was to send lawyers and not experts to the area?
