Hours after Republican U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina contributed $1.1 million more of her own money to her primary campaign, a new snapshot poll Friday showed her faring worse in a head-to-head matchup against incumbent Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer than former South Bay Rep. Tom Campbell.

A May 12 Rasmussen poll of 500 likely voters, with a margin of error of plus or minus 4.5 percentage points, shows Boxer leading Campbell 42 percent to 41 percent while the senator tops Fiorina by seven percentage points. Orange County Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, R-Irvine, fares better than Fiorina in a head-to-head matchup, trailing Boxer by six points.

We can have Mccain in a skirt, or a genuine conservative. Let’s go with the latter.

Ms. Fiorina should pull the plug and back Chuck.

Campbell is not worth it, even if he beats babs, Fiorina is only slightly better. Devore is the one and worth the risk because it would be a great victory rather than just a pleasing event that dumps Ma’ammy Boxer.

So why is Campbell polling higher?

Because Campbell reminds CA voters of dems, maybe? I'd rather have DeVore, but last I checked, he's bringing up the rear in the GOP pack.

But Palin endorsed Carly. that must mean that Carly is the most conservative one in the race. At least according to those who think Palin can do no wrong.

How about name recognition after two failed Senate attempts?

He’s a liberal progressive and Kal is a blue liberal state that happens to be at the moment disenchanted with Boxer.

I think at this point the only way Devore pulls ahead is if the Cal TP ignores the Palin endorsement of FioRINO and the liberal dem base is further demoralized by government employee layoffs and furloughs (including cuts in education).

That said, Devore can pull it out but it will take a lot of passion on the ground.

IMO if it comes to Boxer vs. Campbell, it will be better to have Boxer because when the state falls into bankruptcy, the voters will not have the GOP to implicate in the failure.

On the other hand, if Devore can win the primary, then I think he has a better than fair chance of defeating Boxer because she is so unpopular.

I will pray for Devore.

He is well known in CA politics and name recognition means a lot. Fiorina has never held office and is known mostly for her time as CEO at HP. DeVore is known only to Orange County voters and tea party people.

DeVore is starting some TV ads. Hopefully he’ll hit the valley stations where voters need to hear about him.

People are supporting Campbell because they don’t like Fiorina and they haven’t seen any ads for DeVore so they don’t think he’s in the race.

Palin did not say Carly was the most conservative, she said Fiorina is the most conservative that can beat Boxer. In other words, she does not believe Devore can beat Boxer, and she believes that Cambell is more liberal than both Fiorina or Devore. I don’t agree with Sarah’s endorsement or her reasoning for it.

Independent voters. Here in CA if uou register with a party you get that party's ballot. If you decline to register you can vote in any of the primaries but can't pick and choose between races. That is is you pick D you vote all D primary, etc. Campbell will draw a lot of non-republican votes in the primary from people who don't want Boxer but will only vote Pro Choice.

Since many Campbell voters are doing so to defeat Fiorina, DeVore needs to target those voters. They have forgotten how liberal Campbell is and need to be reminded. DeVore doesn’t need to campaign against Fiorina, he needs to be the conservative against Tom Campbell.

This senate seat has nothing to with Ca. and everything to do with the federal government.
Why would you want one on the most left wing liberal socialist in the country voting to make the union worse?
We are the stupid party for a reason.

Time for all conservatives to get behind DeVore. If we stand firm, get friends and relatives on board, and support his campaign, DeVore can win. His new TV ad features the Tom McClintock endorsement and that carries weight with many CA conservatives who may not know much about Chuck.

Fiorina is blanketing the TV with ads and Chuck is a much more attractive candidate but needs the backing to run those ads. This is a time when conservatives from across the country can affect a race and put a real conservative leader in Washington.

You are asking the question why I would want Boxer or Campbell? I don’t! I want Devore!

If Campbell gets the primary vote, then I would prefer Boxer for the following reasons:

- Boxer is unpopular.
- California is the USA Greece, it will fail in the next year with high probability.
- Califonia’s failure and Boxer reelected should turn voters away from Feinstein and the Cal legislature in the coming years.

I just think Cal has a chance to go red or at least purple in the coming years as long as the pols in place are really unpopular dems. Thinking long term...but predeicated on Devore not getting the primary nomination.

Now IF DEVORE GETS the primary... thne I see a Devore win as fantastic for conservatives and for Cal. Because Devore is a clearly different character than Campbell. If Campbell gets in, it would be a disaster for the GOP and also GOP conservatives (guilt by association). Cal voters will simply think we voted in a GOP Senator and we still failed, hence both parties are the same, there is no difference. OTOH if Devore gets in, he will be broadcasting the conservative message from day one, and the voters will hear a different voice while the state goes down the tubes.

There it is.
