Volcano quashes man's 'green' efforts

For those of you fretting over so-called climate change, there is more bad news. The Icelandic volcano eruption that is still erupting this time has negated every single effort we all have made in the past 30 years to control CO2 EMISSIONS on our planet. It's sad but true.

Scientists say the volcanic ash and numerous gases that were "belched" from the volcano have done the job. The eruption forced the grounding of most of the aircraft that flies from America and Canada to Europe. (The prevailing winds took most of the material and smoke from the volcano in an Easterly direction).

The government has told Detroit as well as Japanese and European automakers to produce smaller, less polluting automobiles. It has required automobile companies to add "catalytic converters" to their cars that rob our vehicles of horse power.

They are required to build more fuel efficient cars under the belief it reduces carbon emissions. In spite of our best efforts, it's all been wiped out by an upstart volcano in Iceland! If you are a baseball fan you probably know, "mother nature always bats last!" In just four days, the volcanic ash and smoke released by the Icelandic explosion erased every single effort human beings across the globe have made to reduce the carbon emissions.

The environmental movement's efforts to "educate us" against the "horrors" of global warming were destroyed by a single blast from a mid-Atlantic Volcano. The eruption did help cut back a small amount of man made carbon emissions because air traffic came to a halt. But, that's about it! This volcanic eruption accomplished something a lot of us have forgotten: human beings are but a tiny spec in a universe that is constantly changing. When Mother Nature decides she needs to "belch," us Earthlings have to put up with it! Real scientists have been saying human impact on the Earth has been miniscule compared to a volcanic eruption. When Mother Nature decides to move, there is little the rest of can do about it. What we produce with our cars are tiny specs next to the pollution put out by a single volcanic eruption.

The "greenies" must be horrified. Strange that they apparently haven't expressed their horror. Maybe they're busy trying to cap the volcano to shut off the bad, bad CO2 that makes green things grow.

This was authored by Dick Little...who probably still suffers from being kidded about his name in school and therefore became a liberal.

“Never let a crisis go to waste”.

This only means they need to control man-made emissions more than originally planned.

I see nothing in this article that would suggest Mr. Little is a liberal.

lol....I know this is true because I've met her: a friend of my girlfriend's had the maiden name of "Dick"......and her unmarried sister is a doctor at Virginia Mason.

Yes...she is Dr. Dick.

He sounds pretty conservative to me.

I would tend to assume the author is right, but he has absolutely no data to say an estimated X amount of greenhouse gas was released. I think he may be making this up. In the first few days I read a lot of environmentalists saying the flights being grounded nearly make up for the volcano’s pollution and such and also believe I saw some data they tried to use to indicate that the volcano isn’t really as bad as we’d assume. As much as we’d probably like to laugh at the environmental wacko’s futile attempts, we also need to get our facts straight.

Didn’t Pres. Reagan say something about “one little volcano” producing more toxic gases, etc. ... than all of our factories, industries, ...

But Reagan was a stupid, knuckle-dragging conservative, wasn’t he?

Strange that they apparently haven't expressed their horror.

They be crafting legislation requiring America to purchase offsetting carbon credits

“who probably still suffers from being kidded about his name in school “

And when he’s in a roll call situation, and they call out the last name first?
“Little, Dick?”
“Present sir.”

“requiring America to purchase offsetting carbon credits”

I presume that by now some enterprising environmentalist has figured out a way to blame the volcanic eruption in Iceland on GWB, in which case “penance” in the form of carbon credits obviously would be warranted.

I want to know the dollar value of carbon credits Al Gore has had to purchase to offset all the hot air coming out of his own mouth. IIRC, he claims to have achieved a zero carbon footprint through such carbon credit purchases.

I think Iceland should buy the trillions of dollars in carbon credits required to set the world back on the right path to eco-happiness.

Absolutely!

I had a teacher named "Richard Small".

Calling him "Dick" was an instant detention. The fact that he was 6'6" helped.

Uh, cats have been around for over 30 years, they don't rob any significant amount of power anymore (engines are designed with cats in mind), and they don't have anything to do with CO2. They're a good thing, else major cities would have China-level air 'quality'.

The author comes across as a bit of a raving nutter.
