The Democrats had a contested convention in 1960, and the Republicans had a contested convention in 1976 when Ford squeaked past Reagan. THe conventions used to be fun to watch because the average person really didn’t know how it was going to turn out. At least that is what we thought.

I grew up in the Central Valley of CA, and we did not get TV there until the mid ‘50s. I remember in 1952 when they brought in a special feed to bring TV to our Memorial Auditorium in downtown Fresno. Everybody could come for free, and we watch both conventions there. It was doubly exciting because we could watch instead of listening on the radio and because we got to see this new-fangled invention called TV. Although San Francisco and Los Angeles already had TV, residents of Fresno did not because the mountains blocked the signal. We had to build an actual TV broadcasting station before we could get TV in out homes.

My husband started college at Northwestern U near Chicago in 1956. His best friend was the son of the British Consul General and he got press tickets for the 2 college Freshmen to attend both the Democrat and the Republican conventions — both held in Chicago that year. My husband says that it was so interesting to sit in the same room with all the Party bosses and watch them caucus.

I attended the Democratic Convention in Philadelphia in 1948. My mother had a secretarial job with the local Democratic organization and was pregnant with me at the time.

Demint couldn't even stand behind his “Waterloo” remarks on barry. He craw-fished back like the South Carolina mittwipe republican he is. He loves him some mittwipe money. Romney supports abortion, belief in man-made global warming, cap and tax, romneycare, gun control, raising taxes disguised as fees, homosexuals serving openly in military regardless what the majority of the men serving think, and on and on.

DeMint is a good senator, he should stay there. Palin would make a far better president than any of the regular GOP insiders. She is oriented towards getting results as her time as mayor and governor have proven.

For the last time:

Jim DeMint has DEFINITIVELY stated that is is ABSOLUTELY NOT RUNNING for President in 2012.

Unless you believe he is a damned, dirty liar, we must take him at his word.

In an interview with David Brody, Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina, a favorite of movement conservatives and Tea Partiers, doesn't rule out a 2012 presidential run. DeMint says the presidency is "not something I desire," adding that not really desiring the presidency is an essential requirement for the next president.

David Brody: “There are folks in the Tea Party movement that seriously want you to run for President. Would you consider something like that?”

Senator Jim DeMint: “You know, I’ve always thought of myself as an average guy and when I think of the President of the United States I’m hoping that there is some knight on a white horse that’s going to ride that I can look at and say you know this is Ronald Reagan character or the level that we could have. Frankly, the people that I’ve seen here in politics I realize that I can hold my ground with any of them. There are a lot of changes I’d like to make in this country and I think Americans are going to be ready for someone to tell them the truth next election. Not someone who will give them a good speech but someone who reminds them that the federal government has to do less not more. I’m hoping we can find that candidate out who has shown himself to be a great Governor or somewhere. It’s not something I desire. Anyone who really desires it does not know how much trouble we’re in as a country because we’ve got some tough times ahead of us and we need a President, who says we can get through it, we can come out better on the other side but we’re going to have to sacrifice.”

David Brody: “All right, so not ruling it out necessarily?”

Senator Jim DeMint: “Well I guess I’ve learned not to rule out anything in life but right now it’s the last thing I want to do.”

Hmmm...a McCain supporter or a Romney supporter...hmmm...

Personally, I pick "none of the above."
