Probe Into Palin Appearance Is Politically Motivated, Critics Say [CSU Stanislaus]
foxnews.com ^ | April 16, 010

The investigation into a California university foundation that hired Sarah Palin to give a speech this summer is politically motivated, critics say.

California Attorney General Jerry Brown's office announced Tuesday it will investigate California State University Stanislaus and its foundation for its handling of a contract related to a $500-per-plate speech Palin will give there in June.

[...]

Bill Whalen, a research fellow who specializes in state and national politics at Stanford University's Hoover Institution, a public policy research center, questioned why Brown is devoting his time to the investigation when it's not clear exactly how the documents were acquired.

[...]

Hamid Shirvani, the university's president, said a portion of the contract between a school foundation and Palin was stolen last week from the office of Susana Gajic-Bruyea, vice president for university advancement.

"Susana threw the pages into her recycling bin in her office some time ago," Shirvani said. "Somebody either broke into her office to get them or it was somebody who had access to her office."

Shirvani has asked police in Turlock, Calif., to investigate the matter.

[...]

"We're getting attacked over political ideology," Shirvani said. "If this was Michael Moore or Al Gore, forget it, nobody would ever ask us about the contract."

[...]

"When you say the words Sarah Palin, you know that there's going to be excitement," he told Fox News on Thursday. "But we didn't know we'd have this much excitement."

BTW, O/T but Sarah is appearing right now at the "Women of Joy" conference in Louisville before a sold-out audience of 15,000. C4P has a tweeter there. One tweet that I laughed at:
"Lol... Announcer says this is the greatest gathering of estrogen in the history of the state"
I thought Sarah had a problem with women. :)

“Hamid Shirvani, the university’s president, said a portion of the contract between a school foundation and Palin was stolen last week from the office of Susana Gajic-Bruyea, ...”

“Susana threw the pages into her recycling bin in her office some time ago,” Shirvani said.

“Somebody either broke into her office to get them or it was somebody who had access to her office.”

“Shirvani said the students’ claims that the documents were thrown away were preposterous and likened the controversy to political theater.
All funds for the event have been privately raised by the school’s foundation, he said.”

“We’re getting attacked over political ideology,” Shirvani said.
“If this was Michael Moore or Al Gore, forget it, nobody would ever ask us about the contract.”

BOR had two girls on over this. They strongly insisted it wasn’t political, they just wanted full disclosure.

When he started a hypothetical story using Obama as the speechmaker, they looked like deer in the headlights, tried to change the subject, then insisted they would have felt the same way.

He basically caught them out.

It’s a foundation that is conducting a fundraiser. No state funds are involved! It’s total BS.

I am at a loss for words.

Several members have been referencing her as an Esther and one or two as a Deborah.

These little twits and gnats are just fodder for Sarah’s tweets!

So sweet!

One of the airheads is a 26 year old Senior and the other is a 23 year old Junior at a mediocre Cal State.

Can you say ‘slackers’?

I thought you could.

Well, what’s going on here is as petty as it is transparent. Brown is prepping for his run for California governor by taking a shot at a high profile conservative - a good move in loopy liberal California.  To the white liberal elites that fill campaign coffers, attacking anything relating to Palin grabs attention and will likely channel resources to Brown.
