ESCONDIDO, Calif. – Authorities in Southern California say the skeletal remains of a 14-year-old girl who disappeared a year ago while walking to school have been found in a remote area of the Pala Indian Reservation.

Escondido Police Chief Jim Maher said Amber Dubois' bones were found early Saturday and positively identified through dental records later in the day.

Larry Singleton? The guy who raped a girl before cutting off her arms? California “caught & released” Larry Singleton and he was found in Florida 10 years later by a UPS delivery guy, just after he’d killed a woman on his couch.

Phil Garrido, another monster, was also convicted of rape, kidnapping, etc., but then got “released” and even checked on by parole agents WHILE he had his victim in the back yard.

What has California & the ACLU learned in hindsight - anything? I feel like it’s 100% up to me to protect myself.

Technically if I got caught peeing behind the bush in my younger years while doing things like bar hopping, I would be on a list today!

A traveler who pees behind a bush at a rest stop is not quite the same thing as a murder-rapist. In today’s hysteria, the situations get muddled.

It is. Never forget, when seconds count - police are just minutes away. It's all up to you. Be prepared as you can.

lemme guess its the same guy that killed the other girl

and CA wants to electronically monitor animal abusers?

and what about the kid that was kidnapped from the northern ca dude and his wife?

Haven’t they got enough to monitor statewide that they can’t handle?

Going on gut instinct is always good. I’m forever grateful to an older couple (back in the ‘70’s) that intervened when I was a teenage girl on a Greyhound bus. I had the window seat and some perv took the aisle seat and proceeded to unfold a Playboy and ‘show’ me the pictures.

We were approaching the next stop and the good folks behind me told the driver. The creep was tossed from the bus. He probably would sue the bus line today.

Slightly OT here, but for professional reasons, I need to know:What’s the difference between “shiv” and “shank”? Is shank the act, and shiv the weapon?

Oh, btw, I think the guy who was caught last week (JAG) killed Amber, her discovery was probably part of a deal. So the state won’t have to kill him, but like you say, the inmates will do it for free, let’s hope.

Good memory Monica.

Here’s more of the story. Note the part of being surrounded by 500 and then 400 people.

I hope his cancer was an EXTREMELY painful one.

...killing another girl near Lake Elsinore just recently.

Lake Hodges, north of San Diego, actually.

A shiv and a shank are basically the same thing. Improvised knives, actually.

Give it a rest.

You probably post those "illegals" responses under another name.

Troll.

Nitpicking. You knew what I meant so why bother with the correction? Some people.

There’s an article on the UT website stating that Gardner didn’t give them any information. It’s implied in the article that someone who appears to have known something about Amber’s disappearance for quite some time finally came forward.

This came from a PI hired by the Dubois family and NOT from Escondido PD.

http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2010/mar/07/dubois-tip-didnt-come-gardner-source-says/

My heart goes out to her family and friends. I can’t imagine what the last year has been like for them. I can’t imagine what today has been like for them. So sad.

**I remain convinced if the Escondido police dept had put effort into finding Amber, Chelsea would not be dead.**

I completely agree. Also, if the Escondido police had taken citizen reports of this creep stalking and leering at high school girls jogging in local parks seriously, Chelsea would not be dead.
