Will There Be a Bipartisan Health Care Reform Summit? We Shall See
ABC News ^ | February 8, 2010 | Jake Tapper

Posted on 02/09/2010 12:19:47 AM PST by Zakeet

House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, and House Minority Whip Eric Cantor, R-Va., sent a letter to White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel about the president's proposed health care reform summit today, asking if the "President is sincere about moving forward on health care in a bipartisan way, does that mean he will agree to start over so that we can develop a bill that is truly worthy of the support and confidence of the American people?"

Referencing Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius telling Sam Stein of the Huffington Post that President Obama is “absolutely not” resetting the legislative process for health care reform, the two Republicans said, "If the starting point for this meeting is the job-killing bills the American people have already soundly rejected, Republicans would rightly be reluctant to participate."

They then asked Emanuel a number of questions, including: "If the President intends to present any kind of legislative proposal at this discussion, will he make it available to members of Congress and the American people at least 72 hours beforehand? ...Will the President include in this discussion congressional Democrats who have opposed the House and Senate health care bills?...Will the special interest groups that the Obama Administration has cut deals with be included in this televised discussion?"

Boehner and Cantor expressed hope that the summit is not "an intramural exercise before Democrats attempt to jam through a job-killing health care bill that the American people can’t afford and don’t support. ‘Bipartisanship’ is not writing proposals of your own behind closed doors, then unveiling them and demanding Republican support. Bipartisan ends require bipartisan means."

ABC’s Democrat Propagandist Jack Tapper: “Will There Be a Bipartisan Health Care Reform Summit? We Shall See”

Translation into English: “Will There Be a Fake, Completely Phony and Insincere Obama Photo-Op Neutralization of Republicans for the Utterly Corrupt ObamaCare to Provide Needed Cover for Scared Democrats Worried About Otherwise Losing Their Seats in 2010 Elections? We Shall See”

Unless it involves getting the Federal government out of the business of health-care, there can be no compromise. Any expansion of federal involvement in health-care is simply unacceptable.

More questions worth asking...

1. Since the government claims that they can get $500 billion of waste out of medicare without decreasing service, will they agree to first do that before proceeding with any bill so we know they’re acting in good faith?

2. Since the constitution doesn’t give the federal government power limit the freedom of people to make their own medical choices and use their private resources as they see fit, will the administration agree that any reforms will not decrease the people’s choices or increase the government power over them by restricting their freedom?

LOL.

According to "Rules for Radicals" the Pubs should fire back with agreeing to televised conferences only with those democrats ready to start FROM SCATCH, COMPLETELY ABANDONING THE OBAMA/PELOSI/REID LEGISLATION.

That should toss a grenade right into the DNC.

I would think they know Obama is not the least bit interested in working both sides of the aisle. Besides most people do not want a government run health care.

Why do they keep ignoring this? Do they not understand they are going to have to give up their jobs and hopefully we can do something about their outrageous pensions.

This is so refreshing to see the Stupid Party not attempt to kick the football while the Evil Party holds it.

Agreed! Let the world’s best health care stay that way.

Will the 200,000+ that marched into Washington voices be shut out again! Will the multi-million that back those that marched not be heard again! Will “plant and select” be the only voices heard this time only also?

NO THANKS!

Rename, repackage, rewrite it a tad smaller, and sell another pig in a poke.

Tennessee has joined several other states in trying to pass a Health Care Freedom Act. NO COLAs for granny, retired Military or retired fed employees for 2-3 years. BIG NEW fees for Tricare for Life retired over 65 Military's secondary health ins. (DOD bill already passed, delayed but goes into effect 2011)

New Dem mantra: Woof, woof eat dog food granny....ala let them eat cake.
