Brown tells AP he'll sometimes side with Democrats

BOSTON – Scott Brown says he has already told Senate Republican leaders they won't always be able to count on his vote. The man who staged an upset in last week's Massachusetts Senate special election, in part by pledging to be the 41st GOP vote against President Barack Obama's health care overhaul, told The Associated Press in an interview Thursday that he staked his claim in early conversations with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Minority Whip Jon Kyl.

"I already told them, you know, `I got here with the help of a close group of friends and very little help from anyone down there, so there'll be issues when I'll be with you and there are issues when I won't be with you,'" Brown said Thursday during the half-hour interview. "So, I just need to look at each vote and then make a proper analysis and then decide."

When you post anything here, you'd better be ready and willing to defend your position and not cry because you think you are being ganged up on by people who disagree.

Other than through supposition I'm not actually sure what ozarkgirl's position is.

Here is what I know:

In post #213 she accused me of preferring Coakley.

In post #218 I informed her that this was not the case, but I had plenty of reservations about the fact that he was pro-abortion and that this could cause other problems.

In post #223 she said we only had two choices and accused me of trying to "gang up" on her by pinging people I had pinged to EVERY POST I'VE MADE ON THIS THREAD.

In post #229 I responded that the election results indicate that a pro-life conservative could have won.

In post #236 she accused me of being dishonest and again mentioned the fact that I was pinging other FReepers.

In post #348 I asked her how my post was dishonest and inquired why she never responded to my statement that a pro-life conservative could have won.

In post #353 she went on about me pinging others and acknowledged that she was ignoring what I had actually said about Brown.

So, ozarkgirl has yet to tell me what her position is.

That would spoil things. For some folks, when you're losing the debate, its best to change the subject and accuse your opposition of irrelevant and meaningless things. Consider the source.

I'm sure she'll be back to whine some more.

Of course not being socially conservative puts you in the moderate column and at odds with part of the conservative and freerepublic agenda, who do you think supports people like Mitt Romney and other Republicans that are weak on abortion and homosexuality and drugs and porn, etc, in other words the same agenda as the left.

Moderates like you embrace much of the left wing, 1960s crowd and see America before the hippies as an oppressive nation of right wing, religious nuts and social conservatives with no abortion and all that prayer in school stuff.

Look at your home page: "I am a registered Republican. My views do not always follow the "perfect conservative views", of many Freepers" "I can be considered a moderate by some; I strongly despise the ultra-liberal Democratic Party.", but you do like some of their ideas, hence "moderate".

You describe your dislike for "religious extremists" and that you "Don't care much for social conservatives." or even "Things That Make Me Mad 5) People who feel abortion is wrong no mater what."

Here is what JR has to say about freerepublic.

Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site

Yet you signed up in 2008 and think that we suck compared to the good old days of 1998, a decade before you bothered to register.

There have been a lot of times when I would have voted against the republicans, especially when they were expanding government spending at a faster rate than clinton’s democrats did.

Whenever someone starts talking about Goldwater being their favorite, it’s usually a pretty good bet that they aren’t a real conservative.

Conservatism was a FAILURE until Reagan recognized the absolute necessity for social conservatism along with fiscal conservatism and a strong military.

Barry Goldwater was a TOTAL FAILURE in 1964. He is the GOP’s version of McGovern or Mondale.

He does not support partial birth abortion and he supports abortion restrictions and parental notification.

"He may or may not be the new McCain."

McCain is stronger, believe it or not. At least McCain is also pro-life, Brown is "pro-choice" (whatever that is)...

He does not support partial birth abortion and he supports abortion restrictions and parental notification.

Which means he has essentially the same position as Harry Reid and Tom Daschle.

Any law that ends by essentially saying "and then you can kill the baby" is pro-abortion.

I said, the day after Brown was elected, he was another RINO who supported partial abortion and I was basically called a liar. hmmmm

You are still on this Brown and partial birth abortion thing, is Brown for it or against it?

Everything that I can find says that he is against partial birth, what sources are you using?

Is he better than Coakley if he has only 2000 dead babies and she has 10,000?

Yes!

So, ozarkgirl has yet to tell me what her position is.

I've determined that she's just jealous of your quick wit and charming demeanor; of p-marlowe's lengthy title; and of my (obvious) penchant for being right all the time.

She's yet to meet blue-duncan, but when she does, she'll rue the fickle finger of fate that has such a catch already belonging to "K".

Brown is "pro-choice" (whatever that is)...

Pro-choice means pro-abortion, the same as gay means homosexual, just softer euphemisms for the media and adherents.

From the same article.

"...Brown beat Democrat Martha Coakley to win the seat held for nearly a half-century by Sen. Edward M. Kennedy. The result rocked both the Democratic Party and the Obama administration, who viewed the seat as safe and Coakley as the pivotal 60th vote to preserve a Democratic supermajority in the Senate..."

As much as I want every elected official to think and act along my core value system, it isn't going to happen all the time.

There are alot of pros about this man and I'll take the cons to get to the end result. What needed to end was Omamacare. And, that my FRiends would never happen if Coakley had won this seat.

Why? Your alternative was a sure vote for healthcare, and the man is replacing the Swimmer, who doesn’t even like the letter “R”. Brown at least prevents an unrepealable healthcare package from going through.

I think anyone who deals in absolutes is probably cut from the same cloth as the TOTUS. I will reserve judgment until he tells us where he will side with the democrats. It is preferable not to tell the enemy your limits or your plans.

Scott Brown will stop Obamacare and that for me was good enough. It is a first step. I don’t want Obamacare. We should wait and see how it goes before bashing Brown. There are more races to focus on for the fall.
