Brown Has 9.6% Lead in New Poll (WOWSERS!!!)
InsideMedford ^ | 1-17.2010 | Ed Morrissey

Posted on 01/17/2010 5:02:19 PM PST by tcrlaf

A poll conducted by the Merriman River Group (MRG) and InsideMedford.com indicates that Scott Brown leads Martha Coakley 50.8% – 41.2% in the contest to fill the seat of the late Senator Ted Kennedy. Liberty Party candidate Joe Kennedy pulls in just 1.8% support, while 6.2% of voters are still not sure.

Brown and Coakley both have most of their supporters locked in. 98% of both candidate’s supporters say they are definitely or probably going to vote for their candidate. In contrast, 22% of Kennedy’s supporters are just leaning toward him, suggesting that Brown and Coakley may both want to take aim at swaying those voters.

Not surprisingly, nearly all of Coakley’s supporters approve of President Obama’s job performance, while three-quarters of Brown’s supporters disapprove. Coakley may see a glimmer of hope in the fact that more than two-thirds of undecided voters approve of the president’s job performance while only 6% disapprove, especially in light of the president’s swing through the state to campaign for her later today.

47% of Brown’s supporters say that taxes, jobs, and the economy represent the most important issue to them in this race, while half of Coakley’s supporters say that healthcare reform is most important to them. Undecided voters are nearly evenly split between the two issues—40% say they’re most concerned with taxes, jobs, and the economy with 37% saying that healthcare reform that most concerns them. “For Coakley to have a chance, she needs to convince voters that the Democratic party’s agenda for the economy is the right one, and she needs to do it fast,” said MRG’s executive director, Matt Fitch.

The recent dust-up between the candidates over abortion laws seems to have had minimal impact on the race. Only 8% of Brown’s supporters and 5% of Coakley’s supporters say it’s the most important issue to them.

I said this on another Thread and I say it again here:

If the Dems steal this Election from Scott Brown, look for riots to break out. Boston will burn like Detroit, Michigan and The Watts District of LA in the 1960s. I wouldn't wanna be there.

Well this is the kind of lead I believe they will need to overcome Dem corruption in the voting process.

"... look for riots to break out..."

Would it? Diffuse destruction amidst chaos by unknown perpetrators with the intent of terrorizing a community as a means of expressing anger seems to me to be something that would appeal to the liberal mindset.

Wouldnt conservative rage be more open, concentrated and, well, targeted?

RE: “Nice! But I am still worried about ACORN, Black Panthers and the other vermin who corrupt voting as a living.”

Of course there is much to worry about, except that THIS time we are ready for all their corruption and dirty dealings and that’s the one thing that’s incredibly ‘transparent’ about this crew — we will be all over them like a cheap suit if there are any questions at all about who the winner is in this dogfight.

RE: “On a positive note, even a close race in such an incredibly liberal state gives one pause to hope about the country’s future!”

*****************

EXACTLY! Several talking heads said over the weekend that it doesn’t matter who wins if it’s close — it shows the massive shift in opinion away from Obama and his policies. If Brown wins — fantastic — could not be better. If Coakley squeaks by, however, all eyes will be on the process and any recounts and now that we’ve had so much experience with the left’s cheating in elections we are ready to take them on — it’s the ONLY place where they are transparent! We can all see right through them now — many of us here saw through them well before 11/08 but others are catching up.

So long as this race is ‘close’ we are winners here! Go Brown!!!

Intrade currently has the race at 60-40 for Brown. I think that’ll tighetn to about 54-46 Brown by tomorrow night.

But I still say that unless Brown has a great ground game and a whole lot of real pros doing poll-watching, he loses.

Getting the majority of votes is only half the equation. The other half is thwarting rat fraud.

yes, I think Brown will win at this point by about 2 percent as long as people get out and vote. 9 percent is not going to happen so ignore that poll.

Wonder of wonders, miracle of miracles! I just got off the phone with my 88 year-old father; a died in the wool, life-long democrat who was born in and has lived in Mass for over 70 years. HE HAS NEVER VOTED FOR A REPUBLICAN… NEVER. After polite chit chat about the NFL play off games I dared broach the subject and asked him if he was going to vote on Tuesday (every time “politics” have come up in the past he has berated me with tirades about those “evil republicans”). Well, he came right out and told me… “I AM going to vote on Tuesday and I am seriously thinking of voting for Scott Brown.” Needless to say I was and am totally ASTONISHED… ASTONISHED (I did not let him know in the least and kept my heart-felt joy and enthusiasm at his answer to my self so as to not “scare him off”)!

I tactfully asked him WHY he was going to vote for Brown and his answer was: “Because of the healthcare bill Obama is trying to pass.” I carefully agreed with him and reinforced the fact that Obama wants to gut Medicare/Medicaid by taking away 500 BILLION DOLLARS from the system and that if he adds 40 million people to the rolls, especially illegal aliens the health care system would collapse… I told him that Brown is an honorable man and that he is totally opposed to the “healthcare” bill and would vote against it… MY DAD AGREED! I was flabbergasted!

If my own father; a life-long Massachusetts FDR Democrat who has voted for EVERY Kennedy, Kerry/democrat to ever come down the pike, is going to vote for Scott Brown, a REPUBLICAN, BECAUSE OF HIS OPPOSITION TO Obama and his evil healthcare debacle then things are looking VERY promising for Scott Brown and we could all be in for an incredible victory on Tuesday. To this end I am fervently praying.
