Cheney: Obama pretending we are not at war

(CNN) – In blistering new comments Wednesday, former Vice President Dick Cheney says President Obama's reaction to the botched terrorist attack on Christmas Day is proof the president "is trying to pretend we are not at war."

In his first statement since the Christmas Day terror attempt, Cheney hits Obama for what he describes as the president's "low key" response to the events last week, and criticizes the administration's broader approach to national security.

"He seems to think if he gives terrorists the rights of Americans, lets them lawyer up and reads them their Miranda rights, we won’t be at war," Cheney says. "He seems to think if we bring the mastermind of 9/11 to New York, give him a lawyer and trial in civilian court, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if he closes Guantanamo and releases the hard-core al Qaeda trained terrorists still there, we won’t be at war."

Cheney adds that Obama outwardly "pretends we aren't [at war]," and the former vice president repeats his months-long criticism that the new president has made America "less safe."

The captured terrorist is sitting comfortably in his cell and being advised by a lawyer, thanks to the terrorists best friend, Barrack Hussein Obama. The other 300 terrorist hiding in Yemen know they are safe since their captured friend will practice his right to remain silent. This would not be happening if we had a real president like G.W. Bush. Under G.W. Bush the captured terrorist would be water boarded until he gave up the identities and locations of his cohorts in Yemen. The great pretender protects the terrorist at the expense of American lives.

More and more everyday I have to admit my deepest fears,

This county elected a Muslim commie socialist, who wants to bring down America,

What is wrong with the Americans who deflect and minimize this?

The lefts anti bush, anti American, rhetoric got us in this situation.

FOR GOD SAKE, I KEEP ASKING PEOPLE,

ARE YOU KIDDING ME,?? YOU ARE GOING TO VOTE FOR THIS GUY AFTER WHAT HAPPENED ON 9/11?

WE HAVE BEEN INFILTRATED.

Thank you Dick Cheney, it is nice to know there are still some adults in the country who don’t have their heads in the sand.

Off topic: Why in the world did Cheney endorse Kay Bailey Hutchison for TX governor? Likewise, why did Sarah Palin endorse Rick Perry? The true conservative is Debra Medina.

What is going to happen when a plane or two is knocked out of the sky with hundreds of American deaths? We were lucky this time but out luck may not last. What will Obama do when a really big attack kills a lot of citizens? Will he be this detached? Will he make another speech? What will the MSM do—blame Bush yet again? I fear we will not have to wait long to find out.

"And we did declare war. "

Nah. Congress hasn't declared war since WW II and we haven't won any since. Congress has to declare war constitutionally to unite the nation in war. Roosevelt was the last to do so.

As Levin and countless other constitutional scholars have pointed out, there is no prescribed method for declaring war. The legislation to permit and fund Bush to go into Iraq and Afghanistan were more than sufficient.

From the Politico piece referenced:

A senior Democrat said in response: “It’s telling that in attacking the president and the administration, that Vice President Cheney did not condemn the attack against our nation on Christmas Day.”

Perhaps they should ask the senile (or was it senior?) Democrat why the POTUS didn't condemn that attack either.

Nah. It didn't unite the nation. Nor did Korea and Vietnam. Why not declare war like WW II?

fighting Dick Cheney on national security is literally bringing a knife to a gun fight...

Or going into a battle of wits, unarmed.
