The GOP will assume that any non liberal candidate that attracts votes has stolen those votes from any GOP candidate.
The GOP does not believe that the voters should have any options or that the voters are smart enough to select their own candidate for their own reasons.
The GOP does not believe that the voters are smart enough to choose a candidate on their own, that any vote for any other candidate is a wasted or stolen vote.
