All I ask is that you admit the man was not a conservative.

Why is that so important to you?

He was conservative in many areas, and did many conservative things (many under the table and without recognition). For decades long pro-lifers like my husband and me, he was the most pro-life President we ever had. As far as judges goes, he out-selected Reagan. He cut taxes and never raised them.

No one is arguing that he is flawless, nor would any conservative argue that he was conservative across the board. But to say that he is "not conservative" at all flies in the face of the truth.

And THAT, to me, is what's important.

Great post.

Some are coming around. Others will. Blind rage can't last forever. It will eat them alive.

I guess my plan to read the last few posts of the thread to find out what happened to the Police Officers has gone horribly awry.

LOL! Sorry about that.

A few posts up I pledged to end my part of this "hijacking." Guess I failed. :)

(Don't think there has been any on-topic activity updating the information).

“All I ask is that you admit the man was not a conservative.”

Believe me please, if I thought that I would admit it. I know that President Bush had to be pragmatic and keep his eye on the right ball, so to speak.

I doubt if the President was aware of Paulson putting 9 bankers in a room and make them take the money. There were no strings attached to TARP 1 so, I don’t think it would require much coercion... And, it did prevent a severe depression. You should research the huge amount of money that was withdrawn in a few hour period. If action had not been taken there was serious risk of bank runs and an incredible crash in markets, employment, and demand for goods and services that would have dwarfed what has happened. I would love to see some investigations on this, it happened just a few short weeks before the election. I think there is a good chance it was an intentional move (attack) to help democrats in the election and to provide fodder for future actions of trying to take over some private sectors.

I have had the opportunity to look the man in the eye and listen to him, he is genuine, he is courageous beyond his own personal strength, he is sincere, and he is right most of the time. Remember, his view is a lot more complete than most of us get.

I'd bet my life it was a Soros move.

“I’d bet my life it was a Soros move.”

Agreed, although it was so big that it was probably a group of very rich individuals. But, if there was foul play I am fairly certain Soros was probably involved in some way. He is truly a despicable man.

I would guess he spearheaded it. The massive withdrawal from the money markets so close to the election and Soros’ history of destroying national economies for his own personal aggrandizement and his leftist agenda leaves little room for doubt that he was involved.

and have made absurdly untrue statements about his accomplishments and reputation worldwide.

Accomplishments like...

No Child Left Behind, which expanded Federal control over public education.

Medicare Part D, a $1+ Trillion Big Government entitlement program.

Pushing amnesty for illegal aliens.

Throwing Border Patrol agents Ramos and Compean to the wolves before finally pardoning them at the end of his term.

Backing RINOs like Arlen Specter, who has now returned to the Democrat Party.

Pouring more United States taxpayer dollars into Big Government humanitarian programs in Africa than his predecessor.

Pushing carbon credits and global warming.

Creating a new bureaucracy, the Department of Homeland Security.

Cheerleading for and then signing off on a $750+ Billion Big Government bailout of New York bankers.

Signing off on McCain-Feingold "bipartisan" campaign finance "reform."

Keeping Americans "safe" from terrorists like John Allen Muhammad, Lee Boyd Malvo, and the Virginia Tech mass shooter Cho.

Getting you and the rest of the Bushbots/RINObots/DemLite addicted to Kool-Aid laced with RINO dung.

Just like Judas Iscariot.

Benedict Arnold was "pragmatic" too.

And so was FDR...right before he sold all of Eastern Europe into Soviet slavery!

It's easy to be "generous" with other people's money.

Here is where it gets really tricky for the BushBot/GWB-lovers Rabs, they can either go for the kneejerk “you’re just a Bush-hater” reaction (which is as close to being programmed into their DNA as breathing, lol), OR:

Disprove the facts that you have posted.

George W. Bush was NOT a true conservative. Was he more conservative than say, Bill Clinton? Sure. Was he more conservative than the Marxist Kenyan usurper we’re dealing with in the White House right now? Yeah, GWB was more conservative than 0bama.

But if the sociopath Bill Clinton were salmonella, and if Barack 0bama were botulism, George W. Bush was certainly a bad case of Montezuma’s Revenge, no matter which poison you pick, you’re going to get sick as Hell.

Now there are certainly things that should be properly acknowledged and applauded about the eight years of GWB, among them the restoration of dignity to the Oval Office, especially after the sexual escapades of the Sink Emperor, there was never a hint of anything inappropriate in GWB’s personal behavior in the White House, and I will be the first to give him credit for that.

Unfortunately, being a nice guy with a strong personal moral code that you wouldn’t be afraid to leave your daughter with isn’t enough to overcome the fact that GWB spent money like a drunken sailor, expanded the role of the federal government more than even LBJ and Nixon combined, and his foreign policy started off strong and ended up being as impotent as anything Jimmy Carter could (and did) accomplish.

THAT is just part of the legacy of George W. Bush, and the challenge to his supporters and those who idolize him is to disprove what is established historical fact.

They have their work cut out for them.

In that area, conservative, originalist judges and SC Justices, President Bush even outranks Reagan. There is no Sandra Day O'Connor among his appointees.

For the record, NObody had any expectation that O'Connor was going to drift left as she did. At the time of her nomination she was solidly endorsed and supported by "Mr. Conservative" himself, Senator Barry Goldwater, and the difference between Reagan and Goldwater you MIGHT be able to slide a piece of typewriter paper through.

And need I remind you that before Sam Alito was nominated, that GWB tried to shove one of the Bush family friends down the throats of the American people, the abysmal Harriett Myers? It was only the increasing outrage over her lack of qualifications that forced GWB to change course and go with Alito.

None of what you said, even if it WERE all valid, negates my point.

I will repeat......President Bush was conservative in many areas and did many conservative things.

That is an undeniable fact which your protestations cannot remove from the world of reality.

What difference does "nobody had any expectations" have to do with anything?

Sandra Day O'Connor was a token female SC Justice and she was a disaster for conservatism.

Bush chose both Roberts and Alito.

Alito was Bush's choice and nominee, and no one else's.

In addition, his choices for the federal bench were stellar, and have been recognized by conservative groups as such. He also had a number of great nominees that the Dems in Congress blocked.

You can't in good conscience argue with his judicial conservatism.

You know, some day, mk, I would like to see you make your case without the ad hominem, spurious personal attacks. If you get to that point, perhaps we could have a serious discussion of the issues.

Is that even a remote possibility?

I am always up late!!! Last I knew, they got both suspects.

Very sad.

We just had a man in Perinton (RIT professor) kill his wife and left the body in Mendon Ponds.. near Devils Bathtub. He is in jail now.

We are on the news for the bad stuff! And the area the cops were shot is not the best neighborhood~
