While much attention has been paid to the feud between the Fox News Channel and the White House, the Obama administration is now facing criticism of a different sort from Ms. Maddow, Keith Olbermann and other progressive hosts on MSNBC, who are using their nightly news-and-views-casts to measure what she calls the distance between Obamas rhetoric and his actions.
While they may agree with much of what Mr. Obama says, they have pressed him to keep his campaign promises about health care, civil liberties and other issues.
I dont think our audience is looking for unequivocal rah-rah, said Ms. Maddow, who calls herself a liberal but not a Democrat.
The spectacle of Democrats sniping at one another is not new, but having a TV home for it is. MSNBC sometimes critically called the home team for supporters of Mr. Obama has even hit upon the theme with a promotional tagline, pushing back on the president, in commercials for Hardball, Chris Matthewss political hour.
Our job is not to echo the presidents talking points, said Phil Griffin, the president of MSNBC. Our job is to hold whoevers in powers feet to the fire.

Uh-oh, is the honeymoon over??
LOL... This is so funny. What a joke.
My mom was a newspaper reporter for 30 years.
The one thing she drilled into my head is this:
“The only thing more massive than the ego of a politician is the ego of a journalist who feels he’s being turned into a stooge for his ‘subject’”
Did he say that with a straight face?
Sooo funny... stop it... my gut is busting.... really... LOL
“...So mr. Obama, you had secrectly promised to send all gun owners and bitter clingers to death camps in your first 12 months in office. sadly, you have failed to do so; how do you respond to your electorate that is oppressed daily by free-roaming bitter clingers?”
How utterly stupid. MSNBC puts out a column about MSNBC as if IT were a person.
This article is nothing more than the network stating it’s goal of liberal, socialist utopia. Barama is doing everything they want, just not as fast as they’d like.
I'm sure he gets the same leg tingle as Chrissy. Ergo, it was impossible for him to say that with a straight face.
I view this to be a tactic to help Obama. If they criticize him from the left, it makes him look more “centrist” to the great unwashed.
Somebody’s jealous of Fox’s ratings.
I’ll believe it when I see it.
MSNBC resorts to putting out articles on itself in the hopes of boosting ratings
PMSNBC is just seeing that other stations are getting attention for questioning the idiocy of the administration. They are jumping on the bandwagon while personally worshipping at the feet of their savior.
MSNBC is catering to its left-wing audience.
Quick! Where's my shovel! Where's my!...blug...blurp
Phil Griffin has failed at journalism. I can’t tell what he’s running over there at MSNBC. It resembles something that Goebbels might come up with. Sort of a caricature of actual news.
This is good news. People fighting for their paycheck have no other choice than to question in opposition the current administration.
What is their choice? Continue being an ideologue and starve or at the minimum go back to their former station in life? Not good. Once you are hooked on the loot these people are getting paid, they want to continue growing their bank account.
They could simply cede ground and Fox and wither but, maybe now is the time to stand up for your check and be proud you are in the top 5% of earners.
I dont think our audience is looking for unequivocal rah-rah, said Ms. Maddow, who calls herself a liberal but not a Democrat.
Interesting on two counts. Looks like the MSM is starting to turn - and the libs are abandoning the ship.
ROFL
Does Olberdork’s mom count, or maybe Rachael's scank?
ROFL
It’s a little different for MSNBC to be “pushing back” and to be pushing back because the president hasn’t turned America into a Marxist Garden of Eden.
