Only people who are convinced they are unworthy of defense will fear it. The Progressive left has spent over fifty years propagandizing Americans to believe they and their nation are the source of all of the world's ills. Not terrorists, not radical Islamists, certainly not Communists - but America - the land of the free.
We now have a President who actively promotes that view and travels around the globe apologizing for the United States. He does not want Americans to be wealthy, secure and free. He believes we obtained our wealth and freedom by force and theft and that we need to "share the wealth" and "sacrifice" for the common good of the world, meaning the thugs, tyrants and bullies who run the United Nations.
Obama is a Progressive, and Progressives hate America and do not believe that it deserves to be defended, much less loved. That is why they "love" Radical Islam, whose project is the destruction of Western society and especially America. What they fear is not the Islamist sword, but the idea of having to defend a nation they manifestly despise - their own - against it.
There were comments along the lines that you have written, that he wasn't really from the "black experience."
I remember reading a lot of them, especially after the Rev. Wright scandal, when many Black American Christians stated that they had never heard anything like that in the Churches they had attended, and that they did not consider that authentic Christianity.
But eventually BHO triumped, with the help of all that laundered Saudi money, and the AA community closed its ranks behind the Democrat candidate.
“we’re afraid to criticize Islam openly”
Not I. And sooner or later, we are going to have to give the muzzies the jihad they so desperately want.
