Cannot get over the people on here basically calling America dead because this passed the House. Cap and trade passed the House in the summer and Boxer had to illegally move it to the floor and it is not scheduled to discussed anytime soon.

Senate is not going to roll over and vote for the liberal Pelosi bill. Too many moderates.

It’s sad to see the country I love fall into decline, but I do feel blessed to have lived through some great eras. I was born in the ‘50s and had the great pride and honor of serving in the military with President Reagan as Commander-in-Chief. Never in my life would I have dreamed to see the day in which we’d see maoists in our government, a veritable declaration of war by Congress against the American people, and the vilification of those who hold traditional views.

But we had a great run.

"There are not 60 votes supporting this in the Senate "

Unless the GOP plans to filibuster, the Dims only need 51 votes and Obama's signature and it becomes the law of the land

God preserve us all.

How about we pick out a small island country in the Caribbean and have all the health care professionals move there and start a thousand clinics and hospitals, and then set up an international travel system to shuttle patients all to the islands?

Short term housing can be built to house families that are in long term treatment regimens, and supporting infrastructure would need to be built.

Many jobs could be created for some willing small island near the US.

Maybe the Mayo Clinic can move there as well...

THE A.M.A. WEIGHS IN ON THE PROPOSED HEALTH CARE PLAN

This is clever and puts a lighter spin - which we really need - on what’s going on in Washington.

ACCORDING TO THE AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION:

The Allergists voted to scratch it, but the Dermatologists advised not to make any rash moves.

The Gastroenterologists had sort of a gut feeling about it but the Neurologists thought the Administration had a lot of nerve.

The Obstetricians felt they were all laboring under a misconception.

Ophthalmologists considered the idea shortsighted.

Pathologists yelled, “Over my dead body!” while the Pediatricians said, ‘Oh, Grow up!’

The Psychiatrists thought the whole idea was madness, while the Radiologists could see right through it.

Surgeons decided to wash their hands of the whole thing.

The Internists thought it was a bitter pill to swallow, and the Plastic Surgeons said, “This puts a whole new face on the matter.”

The Podiatrists thought it was a step forward, but the Urologists were pissed off at the whole idea.

The Anesthesiologists thought the whole idea was a gas and the Cardiologists didn’t have the heart to say no.

In the end (so to speak), the Proctologists won out, leaving the entire decision up to the assholes in Washington !!!

"All physicians know that the AMA does not speak for us. Less than 20% of us belong to the AMA, I certainly do not. It is like the AARP, not at all does it speak for all seasoned citizens. This will hurt the AMA horrendously, so be it."

To make a really hackneyed observation...all too often "the perception is the reality"...what do we do about the ignorant who think all these "official organizations" actually do represent our doctors, our seniors, and a host of other important people in our lives?

I feel like Diogenes sometimes, except I'm not that smart, and I don't have a lantern...sheesh!

rich lowry has put it very well over on the corner:

"Listening to the debate on the floor today, it was clear that Democrats considered it a moral and ideological obligation to pass this bill—consequences be damned. The leadership is congratulating itself now—Pelosi is already the greatest speaker of all time apparently—but there's a tough road ahead in the Senate. Pelosi could lose 39 votes. Reid can't lose any. Passage in the House definitely creates more pressure on Reid to get it done, but the slender margin—despite the size of the Democratic majority in the House and all the arm-twisting and deal-making (what did Cao get?)—has to make Senate moderates even more nervous. There's a long string yet to be played out here, and it's still likely to stretch into next year, by which time Pelosi’s historic accomplishment of Nov. 7 may look foolish."

Thanks, I don’t know all the little details but I don’t trust the left, they’ve wrecked too many other places.

The House passed it narrowly and the Democrats have 260 seats. They lost 39 of their own members on this vote and there's nothing like bipartisan support for it. The Democrats own this legislation.

Starting Monday.

Yes.

Is there a list of basic "beast-starving" techniques online that I can print? I'll be in Atlanta Monday meeting the Tea Party Express and it would be nice to have something to pass out.

The one thing that is for certain - do NOT do business with a known liberal. If your waitress or waitor is liberal, don't tip. If your doctor is a liberal, change doctors. If your lawn care boy is a liberal (or an illegal), cut your own danged lawn.

I think people are forgetting after committee it goes back to both houses for a vote. Next time around the progressives are going to be mad is my guess. The Pelosi almost 2000 page bill will never pass the Senate.

I hope Tom Perreillo (VA-5) enjoys his final year in Congress. He’s gone next year.

It’s not a “done deal” yet, right? I mean the provision for Fed abortions was removed and the pro-abortion crowd will fight to get that back in. Still more fighting to do. Good vs. Evil.............Good always wins out.........

I don’t think we’ll hit it by year’s end - that’s only 7 weeks from now. We’d have to lose 15 million jobs in 7 weeks to do that. But I would not doubt we’ll hit 14% by next spring if this passes the senate.

People keep saying the senate will kill it. I say don’t count on it.

I think the election of the pro Obamacare, Bill Owens in NY-23 on Nov. 3rd tipped the vote to get it passed.

Nope. That's incorrect.

That's your opinion, I don't agree.

The pro Obamacare, SEIU endorsed, WFA endorsed and Obama endorsed, Bill Owens got 49% of the vote (and a win) in a district that went 52% for Obama the previous year.

That's way too much support for a Marxist and it certainly gave Obama the talking point as he met with the Blue Dogs, that a support for Obamacare is not that scary a thing to do.
