Pretty disgusting.. I think I’d deport or send him to Northwest Afghanistan and drop him off from a minimum 5k’ altitude... no chute of course.

Anyone remember in “Silence Of The Lambs” when Hannibal Lecter convinced Miggs to swallow his own tongue? I honestly think I could do it to such a caller or would at least give it my best effort without upsetting the family.

Now that I think about it, I would invite such a person to a pleasant discourse at my home to discuss his opinion. We could even go for a walk. Never mind that I might come back alone and the alligators at the end of my street might have indigestion for a few days.

Who is Sheikh Haron?
January 21st, 2008 | Austrolabe | Uncategorized

It seems the mysterious “Sheikh Haron”, who rose to prominence after sending letters to the family of a dead Australian soldier, is someone [pdf] called Ayatollah Manteghi Boroujerdi.

Sheikh Haron is Ayatollah Manteghi Boroujerdi. He was born in Boroujerd. He is the son of Muslim cleric Sheikh Mohammad Hossein Manteghi Boroujerdi who was the student of Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Hossein Boroujerdi (marja-e-Taqlid). The Grand Ayatollah who established cordial relation with Sheikh Mahmud Shaltut, the Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar. These two Muslim clerics established the “House for Bringing Muslim Sects Nearer” in Cairo, Egypt for the unity of Muslims. Sheikh Mohammad Hossein Manteghi Boroujerdi first studied in Hawzah Elmiyyah in Boroujerd and then in Hawzah Elmiyyah in Qom and later in Hawzah Elmiyyah in Najaf (Iraq)……

The ABC’s Religion Report has an interview with him when he was apparently living in a tent on the steps of State Parliament in NSW:

People in Sydney walking past the State Parliament buildings on Macquarie Street in recent weeks might have noticed a tall Muslim cleric who has taken up residence in a tent on the footpath outside. He is Ayatollah Manteghi Boroujerdi, a liberal cleric who fled Iran four years ago after being very critical of the Iranian regime. Ayatollah Boroujerdi’s wife and two daughters are now under house arrest in Iran, and he’s hoping the Howard government will put pressure on the regime there to let his family join him here in Australia.

What abject barbarians and cowards these people are. Their essential means of conveying terror is to use citizens and vulnerable family orders as both shields and as bombers. They take fukk advantage of our laws. They hide behind children for God’s sake. I can only hope that He smites them down, and very soon.

I rather like your proposal. Since Australia is home to, what, 7 out of 10 of the world’s most deadly insects & snakes and has large crocs, maybe someone over there could apply your thinking using local resources. :-)

“sheikh haron” I would like to introduce you to “reverend fred phelps”.

You two have a great deal in common, I wouldn’t be surprised if you even worship the same demon.

Here in the South, we’d call this one a “freebie”, or a “no-bill”...

How can he be called a “liberal” and “critical of the Iranian regime” ?!

Then there is this:

Call to probe mystery Shia cleric
Richard Kerbaj | January 28, 2008

http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,23118606-5001561,00.html

“FEDERAL agents have been urged by the nation’s senior Shia leader, Kamal Mousselmani, to investigate an Iranian man purporting to be a prominent Islamic cleric.

Sheik Mousselmani told The Australian yesterday the mystery cleric - who has been identified as Ayatollah Manteghi Boroujerdi on his website after appearing under the name Sheik Haron - was not a genuine Shia spiritual leader.

He said there were no ayatollahs - supreme Shia scholars - in Australia and none of his fellow spiritual leaders knew who Ayatollah Boroujerdi or Sheik Haron was.

“We don’t know him and we have got nothing to do with him,” Sheik Mousselmani said. “The federal police should investigate who he is. It should be their responsibility.”

Sheik Haron, who insulted the family of an Australian soldier killed in Afghanistan in November, was accused by Muslim leaders of being a fake cleric deliberately stirring anti-Islamic sentiment.

Sheik Mousselmani, head of the Supreme Islamic Shia Council of Australia, which represents the nation’s 30,000 Shi’ites, said Sheik Haron’s website - Sheik Haron Web - gave him away as an amateur who knew little about Shia Islam.

“From the way he writes his (fatwas or religious edicts), I don’t think he is Shia Muslim,” Sheik Mousselmani said. “And there are no ayatollahs in Australia.

“We don’t follow, we don’t support and we don’t stand with anyone we don’t know. He’s not one of us.”

Sheik Haron has been identified in a letter on his websites that claims he is of Iranian background and once supported the country’s Islamic revolution against US “oppression”.

“Ayatollah Boroujerdi was supporting Ayatollah Khomeini (leader of the Iranian Islamic revolution) and the Islamic revolution like many others who were against the oppression of the United States of America, but later the direction of the Islamic revolution changed and it was not what the nation expected it to be,” the letter says.

Sheik Haron’s website lists a number of letter he has written to officials and ministers, including one to former attorney-general Philip Ruddock and one to federal police commissioner Mick Keelty.

The Australian Federation of Islamic Councils president Ikebal Patel said yesterday the body’s investigation into the cleric last month could not find any information on who Sheik Haron is.

“I know the community very well, and this just doesn’t make sense,” he said. “We couldn’t find anything on the man.”

As yet I can’t find more recent info on this Sheikh or Ayatollah’s background on the web.

I think they knew who he was...until he embarrassed them, now, suddenly they don’t remember him. But here he is reciting arabic poetry in Sydney:

Ayatollah Manteghi Boroujerdi, Sheikh Haron, after his speech in the Masjid (Mosque) in Sydney Australia has read one of his poems. This video contains the first part of that poem.
