WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama is considering all options to create jobs, including another stimulus package, while trying to pull the economy out of a deep recession and deal with a record deficit, White House advisers said Sunday.

...

"You've got this huge national deficit and we've got to do what we can to bring that down. At the same time, it's important to stimulate the economy," Jarrett said. "Let's wait and see. Let's let the recovery bill do its job."

Unemployment stands at 9.8 percent, with more than 4 million jobs lost this year. The deficit has reached $1.4 trillion and the national debt $11.9 trillion.

If he were serious about it he would consider Reagan’s strategies. All another Economic Stagnation Package would mean is more money to those the rats owe for getting them and keeping them in power! More pork anyone?

All options except cutting regulations, reducing taxes, smiting stupid employee protection rules, and the like.

You know, REAL changes that would actually make a difference.

Other than that, he's looking at all options. Right.

You beat me to it, he is considering everything but things that actually allow the economy to recover on its own.

Not sure that even that would work at this point (would have been a great first start however)... At the rate of the dollar devaluation, it would take a miracle to restore both jobs and confidence now... (blame the Fed)...

I think the title of this article is wrong. It would be more accurate had they wrote: "Obama looking at all options for destroying jobs"

It is a fact that his stimulus package hasn't created many jobs, but most certainly harmed the marketplace by damaging the incentive to create jobs.

My guess is that Obama is looking to set up a jobs program- not unlike those that have been set up for youth in the inner cities over the years. They were very popular back in the 70s when I was an inner city youth.

Nothing really gets done, but “paychecks” are cut and the “workers” are kept off the street during “work” hours. Glorified welfare.

Obama would like to set up a WPA- which didn’t accomplish a whole lot considering the size of its workforce back in its day.

But unlike in the 30’s, today government construction jobs are a lot more firmly controlled by the trade unions- so most of that work is really of the table for welfare recipients.

Except for the obvious: Cut taxes and spending to the bone, cut EPA regs, in fact dump the EPA altogether, urge states to end income taxes and corporate taxes and environmental laws.

It’s called a vicious spiral.

Like borrowing money to pay back money you borrowed, all the while spending like there’s no tomorrow.

Cut taxes. Keep the Bush family [tax] cuts.

That will be issue #1 for the '10 election cycle. I can hear Axelrod and Rahm triangulating as I type.

The Democrats need to see some sort of economic recovery in the next 6 months if they want to keep Congress. If the economy starts recovering in August ‘10, it’s too late because after summer vacation, kids go back to school and football season starts and people won’t pay attention to politics at that point.
