WASHINGTON (CNN) South Carolina Republican congressman Joe Wilson has now raised over $2 million in campaign contributions since he shouted "You lie!" at the president earlier this month.
A campaign aide confirmed that Wilson surpassed the $2 million mark on Monday.
Wilson and his 2010 opponent, Democrat Rob Miller, each raised more than $1.5 million in the week after Wilson's outburst, which occurred during President Obama's address to a joint session of Congress on September 9.
The House voted to formally reprimand Wilson last week, amidst an aggressive online fundraising effort by the congressman's staff.
Miller is scheduled to visit Washington on Wednesday for a pair of fundraisers on Capitol Hill

$50 of that was from ME.
I remember last week one press service described Joe Wilson as “cashing in” on his remark. His Dem opponent was described, of course, as receiving “grass roots” financial support.
Wow. A $million for “You” and another $million for “Lie”. Not bad Joe.
Yeah, I like how the article says “aggressive online fundraising effort” when it was the opposite, a spontaneous outpouring of financial support online.
That's news to me.
CNN shilling for the 0bamabot as usual?
They first for all claimed Miller had raised $1 million last week. Turns out he hadn't.
Now they throw $1.5 million about out of thin blue air?
The opponent had $450,000 debt from the last run I had heard.
I still have no idea of the actual amount the opponent raised.
That means if he had actually said “boy” as some claimed, it would be 3 mil by now.
I’m so proud of that guy!!!
So, the Press makes up a few facts here and there. What does it matter, if it helps the Democrats destroy America? That is, after all, the Greater Good, in their feeble little minds.
And if America sours on the New American Pravda... so what? Our Great Leader will bail out the Press with a new “stimulus” plan, and pay them out of our tax dollars anyway. Can’t have “The New York Times” go out of business, after all! THAT would be Anti-Anti-American!
Of course, that doesn’t apply to any Press who might happen to support any form of thought against the Administration. No, no, no. That’s BAD for America (in the eyes of our Dear Leader and his fellow travelers) and they will taken to Court to stop their “misinformation” about the good that Our Beloved Government wish to do for all of us.
I guess the next time Obama addresses Congress, they’ll
all be screaming “you lie.”
I sent $25 and a thank you note. :-)
I’m proud to have been a donor.
I am Joe.
He could have had another $50 if his donation page used standard SSL security. I don’t put credit card data on unsecured pages.
2 million is pretty good.
I read somewhere here on FR that Joe Wilson isn’t as conservative as the libs want to make him out to be. If so, it’s particularly amusing that he’s getting all this money from conservatives who have known all along that Obama lies.
