HOUSE VOTES TO DE-FUND ACORN
MSNBC ^ | 9/17/09 | Mikey_1962

Posted on 09/17/2009 11:33:12 AM PDT by Mikey_1962

The House, in a motion to recommit attached to the student loan bill, has voted overwhelmingly to de-fund ACORN. It was a bipartisan vote, with more than 300 members voting for the measure. (We'll get the full numbers/vote breakdown shortly.) This goes further than the Senate did; the Senate took money out of one bill. This is to de-fund the group completely -- for any money the House would appropriate. *** UPDATE *** House Minority Whip Eric Cantor's office just sent around this statement: “ACORN has violated serious federal laws, and today the House voted to ensure that taxpayer dollars would no longer be used to fund this corrupt organization. All federal ties should be severed with ACORN, and the FBI should investigate its activity. This united Republican effort to defund ACORN is a victory for the rule of law and taxpayers across the country.”

This bill allows the NATIONALISM of ALL student loans.

Acorn is a side issue. Look at the bigger picture.

The MSM wants everyone to know about Acorn and NOT the purpose of the Bill.

DOH! (always use spellcheck)

Now we need to clearly articulate that ACORN is/was operated in the same manner that ObamaCare would be operated.

What you said is worth screaming from the rooftops:

Just think: A 25 and 20 year old along with a recovering alcoholic “shock jock” did this. Not ABC/CBS/CNN/LAT/MSNBC/NBC/NYT/PBS/WaPo/WSJ!!

HOUSE VOTES TO DE-FUND ACORN

As a compromise, the Republicans voted $41 billion for the new organization OAKSEED which will help minorities and migrants start new businesses, buy homes, and vote.

OAKSEED, by a remarkable coincidence, is located on the second floor of the recently-defunded ACORN headquarters, and shares a headquarters staff and board with ACORN, so disruption to our most vulnerable citizens will be minimized.

Republican spokesmen said, "This shows that the Republican party can be strict - we will not tolerate abuses like those that happened at ACORN. Yet at the same time, we are compassionate and caring. Por los campesinos - todos. Fo' shizzle! Romney 2012!

I think it means YOU and I are now responsible for the defaults on this program

What it means is, there will be no college loans unless they are from the government.

Thanks for posting this.

The GOP is INCOMPETENT if it doesnt make this an issue in the 2010 elections. A third of RATS vote to keep funding corruption with tax dollars!

Does anyone know if this includes a cut off of funds from the stimulus bill?

This may only apply to future allocations by the House, but not to anything previous, which would give Acorn billions for years to come.

And selective enforcement for failure to pay.

The more threads on this issue the better. It helps keep the issue front and center so the trolls can’t “flood the zone” to push it off... Why do you object?
