President Bush had a cult following as well. So did Bubba, and Reagan, this is nothing new.
Clinton and 0bama had theirs based in the alphabet networks and major “papers of record”. Bush 1 and 2 were hated by those same media, who did everything to destroy them. How can you make this comparison? Where is your head?
When and how did the media glorify Reagan or Bush?
What's new is that those three cannot compare in terms of Obama's ubiquitous appearances, saturation media coverage, and the level of protection afforded him by an adoring media. Obama has taken this cult thing to a new level.
I disagree, as this is different in kind. Here, after a campaign that centered entirely around the person of Barack Obama and vapid, contentless words like "hope and change", the same relentless focus on the individual of the president, rather than the nation or the common good, continues to be encouraged by the White House, with their O symbols everywhere, their "Organizing for Change" community activist network, the DOE lesson plans for the Obama address to schoolchildren, etc.
On what planet is that?
Sure wasn’t this planet.
The media was on a 24/7 attack mode against Reagan and Bush 365 days a year. I didn’t see no media created "Cult of Personality" on either Reagan or Bush.
“President Bush had a cult following as well. So did Bubba, and Reagan, this is nothing new.”
What is new is the media’s role in pumping it up with halo photographs, covering the people fainting at Obama speeches and not looking at any blemish or story that could possibly harm their messiah.
