Despite setbacks, David Frum beats on ("we still have the 'Palin problem' with us")
The Politico ^ | September 1, 2009 | Daniel Libit

Posted on 09/01/2009 11:12:51 AM PDT by St. Louis Conservative

Even if the former governor of Alaska fades away before the 2012 presidential election, David Frum thinks “the Palin problem is still with us.”

And as long as that’s the case, Frum — the conservative pundit and former George W. Bush speechwriter — will be here, too.

“Why were conservatives vulnerable to somebody like this?” Frum mused about Palin recently in an interview with POLITICO. “The things that prevented them from seeing her are all still there. And we see them during this health care debate.”

It’s been seven months since Frum parted ways with National Review to launch his own website — NewMajority.com — in an effort to rally new voices and cure the Republican Party of its “psychotic episode.” It’s a long-term project that’s fighting against the tide.

While Frum is aiming to build a moderate-minded Republican audience on the Web, the current political culture is dominated by incendiary language and ever-deeper entrenchments. Republican officeholders, motivated by a half-year of Barack Obama’s presidency and galvanized by three weeks of town hall protests, now tilt even more toward their base.

On a practical level, the Internet is proving to be a little more complicated than Frum first thought it would be, he says. He admits to shortcomings in his Web acumen, and NewMajority.com has already undergone a redesign since it went online. The site has gotten about 800,000 unique visitors. By comparison, the conservative site Townhall.com receives 2 million unique visitors per month.

Frum's mum was Canada's female answer to Walter Cronkite. 'Nuff said.

David Frum's middle name should be "is not."

I don’t really want to see it from Frum’s point of view. LOL! But, I think your analysis is correct.

“the Palin problem is still with us.”

What has Frum defined as the “Palin Problem” that he sees still being with us? Does anyone know or have a link to an article where he’s enumerated about it?

Really it is quite remarkable that Sarah Palin who has not been politically prominent on the national political scene since early Dec 2008 when she helped Chambliss in his runoff election is still such a focus of attention.

At this point even the MSM would be willing to sacrifice its ratings if it could save the Obama Presidency and wave a magic wand to make Palin disappear. And this also includes her enemies including the current holder of the Presidency, his party, and the Far Left and RINO’s and the GOP establishment. Go away Sarah and never return. Hunt as many moose as you want, keep staring at Russia from your front porch, remain stupid and incompetent, we don’t care but just go away. You are a complete joke and an utter embarrassment to America and to the women of America. Sit down and shut up. You are persona non grata, a pariah, you are no longer welcome in the lower 48.

Obama is our Messiah. Long live Obama, our President forever and forever. You have nothing to be scared of him being POTUS. John McCain

As opposed to how he's usually beating?

I don't think you're going to get much sympathy from the mods...

If the grassroots TEA Party movement could nominate a candidate for president, who would it be?

Mods aren't the ones
that rudely accuse posters
of "Palin bashing."

Listening to 101.5 the Truth in Denver and Dwight Schultz is exploring Palin’s history and he is spot on about why Palin is the next leader of the GOP party.

He just said he wants a “Davey Crockett” and how Sarah Palin is like Crockett in that she knows where the Bears in the Forest are.

And that He loves the way she points out WHO the enemy is against the weasely way McCain dealt with it.

As Levin has pointed out, where is Frum's constituency?

*Log Cabin Republican meet-ups
*Pro-abort Republican meet-ups
*Status quo Republican meet-ups

I don't know why people call Frum a RINO. He is, or at least was, clearly a Neo-Con.

Just a few months ago if you were not a Neo-Con who was in 100% total support of the Iraq War then you were either considered a RINO, or an anti-Semitic paleocon.

Welcome to the 1984 version of conservatism where truth is as ephemeral as Big Brother's chocolate ration.

This, after all, was the guy that came up with "Axis of Evil" which was one of the favorite sayings of the typical Freeper.

It was stupid then. And it is stupid now. But if you didn't think it was the smartest thing in the world to say back then, then you were a stinkin' RINO or a closet anti-Semite.

Frum is scum, but not because he is a RINO, but because he was and is a stinkin' Neo-Con.

It was the Neo-cons that dragged the Bush administration into oblivion, and we need to put a nail in their political coffin before they insinuate themselves into the Obama administration and continue destroying America through naive internationalism and turning Republicans into merely the "tax collectors for the welfare state".
