Finance Committee drops end-of-life provision
The Hill ^ | 8-13-09 | Michael O'Brien

Posted on 08/13/2009 11:53:07 AM PDT by nomoremods

The Senate Finance Committee will drop a controversial provision on consultations for end-of-life care from its proposed healthcare bill, its top Republican member said Thursday.

The committee, which has worked on putting together a bipartisan healthcare reform bill, will drop the controversial provision after being derided as "death panels" to encourage euthanasia by conservatives.

"On the Finance Committee, we are working very hard to avoid unintended consequences by methodically working through the complexities of all of these issues and policy options," Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said in a statement. "We dropped end-of-life provisions from consideration entirely because of the way they could be misinterpreted and implemented incorrectly."

RINOs are tools of the demrat party. Surely you don’t expect them to be anthing more than they are.

The “Death Panel” provision is only one of dozens of provisions that will result in the destruction of of the best health care in the world. And the politicians don’t care one wit about our health. What they care about is having access to and control of the money that comes along with a government-run one-payer system.

In any case, I don’t think removing the “death panal” provision will materially change the intense opposition to Onadacare. There are still many issues to grab on to. Among them: 1. Paying for Onadacare. How can an alleged 40 million people be included and cost other tax payers money? That alone is fertile ground. 2. Rationing health care. This is a product of my first point. All government-run medical coverage ultimately must resort to rationing because there is just not enough money to cover the ultimate cost. 3. The inclusion of publicly paid for abortions. This issue alone has yet to explode. If the Marxist Onada and his angry band of commies think they can make me pay for abortions with no serious push back they are very much mistaken.

This Senate version is still over 600 pages. We all know there’s a backdoor way to get to the same place as the death panels. They weren’t concerned with the “consultations.”

They’re concerned with the money. If there’s a cost/benefit ratio administered by any bureaucrat, then they’ve got exactly the same thing. The “death panels” are now the decision makers on how they ration the dollars.

They’ve already tipped their hand on what they want to accomplish.

Excellent post.

We've made our point regarding the "Death Panel" and must move on to focus on other aspects of this Monster Bill. Time is of the essence.

The "Death Panel" is not the single issue, although the Rats would dearly love it to be when they remove this from the Bill and press forward with the rest of it.

“Finance Committee drops end-of-life provision”

Only for now.

Looks we call know the growing government - over the years rationing will all be put in by policy not a vote.
+++++++++++++++

That’s exactly right. To be added in on a convenient Friday afternoon, before a holiday break.

You can trust this socialist crowd about as far as you can throw ‘em. Oh, not even that much. THROW THESE BUMS OUT.

Don’t be so sure. We need to keep the PRESSURE UP NOW. At the least we’ll get a number of other concessions, limit it and likely kill it more in the Senate.

We need to trumpet the Whole Foods and other alternative plans from the rooftops!!

It’ll be an interesting fight.

The Marxist Onada and band of angry commies will be pulling out all the propaganda stops.

Some jerk MSM talking head said yesterday, I’m paraphrasing, that the right would like to see Onada killed. I have no doubt there are a few fringe and stupid rightys who wish he would die.

However, most of us understand any attempt on Zero’s life would only make a martyr of him. His demise, natural or otherwise, is not in our best interests.

I’m already hearing ads from the demrats demonizing the ordinary citizens who’ve finally been aroused enough to confront what’s happening to their country.

Oh, and where is the RINO GOP and its ads attacking Onadacare? Haven’t heard a peep.

Hey this is the standard MO for the Democrat party and the Liberal/Socialist activists. All they need is to get some kind of basic framework passed and instituted into existence.

Sadly the so called Blue Dogs and moderate Republicans will fall for the tactic....................AGAIN!

This is the way the Health care thing will go down......

They create the Health Care Bill as their grand plan for humanity, then after much deliberation and protest the bill is whittled down to a fraction of the original bill, it will then be passed as a bipartisan bill.

Fast forward slightly in time. That will be when the incrementalization will begin.

Bit by bit there will be, by manufactured so called "necessity" incremental changes made to the bill until, over the years the final product will be........TADA!!!!!!

We will have the original intended draft of the bill in all of it's glory .....or even something much much worse.

Sadly, The so called Blue Dogs and moderate Republicans will probably be suckered into this time honored Democrat strategy.

Therefore this thing has to be stopped and buried right now!!!!

This horrible bill is not only discriminatory against our fine elderly in this country but also against many segments of our society not to mention that it totally unconstitutional and is a detriment to this country.

We need to wake up and realize that this is not about the price tag, it's about being ........UNCONSTITUTIONAL!!!!!!

if it doesn't fit the right guidelines it could be "aborted". That's right, at 2 years old!

Any links on that? Thanks.

I think it is this guy, Dr. Ezekiel J. Emanuel. Chicago Mob enforcer and Obama "hit" man Rahm Emanuel's brother.

Here is some information about him.

Dr. Ezekiel J. Emanuel is as scary as his younger brother, Rahm. Actually, he may be scarier.

R. Emmett Tyrrell Jr., the Washington Times, writes that you better get sick now or you may be sorry.

If you have any sense that you may be getting sick in the years ahead, I suggest you get sick immediately. If you will need of surgery or any medical procedure, do it now! If not immediately, be certain that you hand yourself over to the health care professionals before Oct. 15. That is the date on which President Obama hopes to sign his health care bill once it has gone through the congressional baloney grinder.

At the heart of Mr. Obama's plan is his stated goal to cut medical costs. That might sound good to you, but it means cutting services, nurses, technicians, medical tests and, most prominently, the use of expensive technology. The president's top medical advisers are quite frank about this.

Dr. Ezekiel J. Emanuel, brother of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and a health-policy adviser in the Office of Management and Budget, has chided Americans for the expense of their "being enamored with technology." Dr. David Blumenthal, another key Obama adviser, charges medical innovations as being responsible for fully two-thirds of the annual increase in health care spending. Their solution is to limit expensive innovations. A 2008 Congressional Budget Office report agrees with their cost analysis but concludes happily that such innovations "permit the treatment of previously untreatable conditions." As I shall show, there are more humane ways to cut health care costs.

Also at the heart of Mr. Obama's plan is the restriction of services for older people, people 65 and older who, by vir

The following has been composed by Ezekiel 'Dr Death' Emanuel -- a special adviser to Budget Director Peter Orszag and older brother of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel -- heads up the White House's health care reform efforts. Obama has appointed Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel to a top-level position as one of his top-level advisors, and Czars on health care reform.

*Special Note: the term allocation refers to rationing.

"PRINCIPLES USED FOR ALLOCATING SCARCE MEDICAL INTERVENTION"

Coauthored by Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel

Allocation of medical interventions is a persistent ethical challenge. We evaluate eight simple allocation principles that can be classified into four categories: treating people equally, favouring the worst-off, maximising total benefits, and promoting and rewarding social usefulness. No single principle is sufficient to incorporate all morally relevant considerations and therefore individual principles must be combined into multiprinciple allocation systems. We evaluate three systems: the United Network for Organ Sharing points systems, quality-adjusted life-years, and disability-adjusted life-years. We recommend an alternative system—the complete lives system—which prioritises younger people who have not yet lived a complete life, and also incorporates prognosis, save the most lives, lottery, and instrumental value principles.

Nazi Genocidal Intent of Obama's Proposed Healthcare Reforms Exposed; Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel (Rahm's brother) Escapes when Confronted

Panelists warn of the revival of eugenics under Obamas modern healthcare through the denial of care to millions of elderly, terminally-ill, and poor people, who would be judged not fit to live, just as in Nazi Germany. This would save, as President Obama says, $2-3 million, by taking lives not worthy to be lived.
Dr. Ezekiel Emmanuel, health policy advisor to President Obama and leader of a propaganda movement for euthanasia headquarted at The Hastings Center,

believes in witholding medical care from the elderly for the greater good.

OK, I finally found the link for you.

And a quote.

John Holdren's life story didn't start until he was 4 years old, at least that's the way he tells it.

According to John, The fetus, given the opportunity to develop properly before birth, and given the essential early socializing experiences and sufficient nourishing food during the crucial early years after birth, will ultimately develop into a human being.

Where any of these essential elements is lacking, the resultant individual will be deficient in some respect."

I wonder what my sister would say if I told her that her 1 year old son, excuse me, her one year old fetus, isn't a human. Maybe I can return the birthday gift I bought him; I mean, do fetuses really appreciate presents?

So he is saying that even in the "early years after birth" that a "fetus" can be aborted.

John Holden coauthored a book Ecoscience in the 1970's. It is a personal rights and freedom nightmare. Forced population control, forced sterilization and forced abortions whether it's wanted or not.

A global armed force to enforce this in our own country with denationalization.

Also tons of renowned and creditable scientists have gone on record and lists as claiming the global warming as a fraud. It is a Gore, Pelosi and several others we could name being an economic, political agenda.

If not why have they invested so deeply in certain GREEN companies then trying to force through so many bills without allowing others to read them. What are they afraid of. The cap N trade bill will be the death of America's competitiveness on a global level. It's all fine and good to want to live in a perfect utopia but it isn't realistic either. This man has scary and invasive ideas.

This is John Holdren, Obama's Science Czar

For more read his book called Ecoscience

Perfect! So the elites eliminate just one provision and all will be good. The gray-haired suckers (includes me) will now get behind it, with all it’s other flaws. Watch.

“One of Obama’s advisors believes that a fetus has an age of 33 months, so as to check the “quality of life” of a kid up to the age of two and if it doesn’t fit the right guidelines it could be “aborted”. That’s right, at 2 years old!”

If that comes to pass, it will be up to armed Americans to hunt down, fight, and kill every last Democrat in the White House and possibly thousands of toddler murderers across the country. Anyone who doesn’t rise up is just as guilty as they are. There is a real possibility that society could get this depraved in the near future.

In the meantime, we have to try and focus on nonviolent resistance.

These points are against The Constitution and they're exactly what Mikey Schiavo did to Terri via Judge Greer. The judges wouldn't let Mikey withhold antibiotics from Terri but in the end, they killed her on the last point. Terri had a death panel. Why has no one mentioned her name?

your post: 19 ‘‘(ii) the individual’s desire regarding transfer 20 to a hospital or remaining at the current care set21 ting; 22 ‘‘(iii) the use of antibiotics; and 23 ‘‘(iv) the use of artificially administered nutri24 tion and hydration.’’.’

Terri Schiavo was the first person I thought of when I read that in the House bill. No antibiotics, nourishment or hydration. That’s what the Obama administration wants to do to all of us when we are elderly and very sick.
