You can look at it another way.
The door doesn't work because of a recent break-in attempt. A neighbor who doesn't know you sees you trying to force your way into your own home and reports it to the police. The police show up.
So far the system is working pretty well, except you don't know your own neighbors.
Gates should be happy that the police and his neighbors are watching out for his property, that is obviously under threat.
By the way, where are all the cop haters on this thread?
That's like asking "where are all the immigrant haters?". You won't find any here at FR.
What you WILL find are a whole bunch of "out of contol cop" haters.
