He was an a**hat, raising hell and causing problems that he could have solved had he but shown ID. He didn't show it. All your arguments are BS. This guy deserved to be arrested. If I was seen breaking into my house I would be asked for ID, and no, he wasn't inside with the door closed, police report says the door was open.

Police cannot take someone's word they are the owner without proof, otherwise they will be busted for letting a criminal escape after looting someone's house.
