The 8200 year cooling event was similar (but smaller in magnitude) to the Younger Dryas cool period event that marked the beginning of the last 1000 years or so before the commencement of the Holocene. It was due to effects on oceanic circulation from a large influx of fresh water into the North Atlantic.

I have been meaning to ask you a question.

Since we are coming to the end (within thousands of years) of our interglacial period shouldn't we be paying more attention to the coming glaciation rather then global warming?

doesn't the global warming theory side track us to a real threat coming our way?
