WASHINGTON — Lamenting his first teenage cigarette, President Barack Obama ruefully admitted on Monday that he's spent his adult life fighting the habit. Then he signed the nation's toughest anti-smoking law, aiming to keep thousands of other teens from getting hooked.
Obama praised the historic legislation, which gives the Food and Drug Administration unprecedented authority to regulate what goes into tobacco products, to make public the ingredients and to prohibit marketing campaigns geared toward children.
But he didn't say how his own struggle was coming since he moved into the White House. And aides were no more forthcoming.
As senator, candidate and now president, Obama has veered between frank and cagey about his personal battle with smoking.
He promised his wife, Michelle, more than two years ago that he would quit if she let him seek the White House.
You know, if I was him, I would have smoked a cigarette while signing it. Now that would have been a riot.
We have to be thankful th Big Nanny for looking out for us poor fools, utterly incapable of making our own decisions about the matters that affect our lives.

Tht says he’s a very weak individual, all he has to do to quit is not pick up another one.
I quit a year and a half ago after the doctor said I had to and didn’t have another cigarette after smoking for 60 years and there is still a half pack sitting alongside the computer.
The other lie is that the industry denied its health hazards, I knew when started smoking at 11 that I was shortening my life by 5-8 years
The politicians want the tax revenue from tabacco. They could care less about the health hazards. If they did care, they would ban its use.
Once again, it’s “all about me,” as he signs a directive that will screw everyone else. Typical.

I’m on day #7, analog-free with the e-cig. *Big* surprise for me; I’ve tried all the gimmicks before, with no luck at all.
Quitting analogs with the e-cig has been rather painless for me.
