Keith Olbermann, host of Countdown on MSNBC, lied about Free Republic last night in a segment on white supremacist James Von Brunn, the accused murderer of a Stephen Johns, a security guard at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C.
Olbermann falsely said that Von Brunn was a poster at Free Republic and that Free Republic is a Republican website.
A request for a correction has been made to Countdown via phone and e-mail.

Olbermann: Von Brunn himself posted on the Republican Web site, Free Republic, spouting the right-wing claim that Obama‘s birth certificate was forged, defending President Bush against Dan Rather, and claiming the media had tried to destroy Sarah Palin.
Hold him accountable for false information. Sue, Sue, and then sue again. What a creep.
The man described himself as a pagan socialist didn’t he?

By Olberman's logic, I am Dan Rather as I've posted an article written by him before. And by the same logic, Dan Rather is a Conservative Republican who thinks Dan Rather is an idiot because IF I am Dan Rather because I posted an article written by him, then anything I write must be attributed to Dan Rather..

Suing could cause problems because the site may be forced to prove he wasn’t a member to prove our case, and in such, provide all registration information to show he isn’t on the list..

One article he wrote (that was on another site) was posted here. If the media is going to report that that makes him a FReeper, then by virtue of that, Olbermann is also a FReeper.

That’s correct, and same with all too many Republicans. That is part of the Conservative/Republican problem that we can’t get the traction we need.

It’s not enough to get a half hearted apology from him on his show that only his mother listens to. FR should clear this up before it becomes conventional wisdom.
