By the evening of April 29, with their historic bankruptcy filing hours away, Chrysler Chairman Bob Nardelli and other company leaders were left with no doubt that Steven Rattner was calling the shots.

Chrysler executives still hoped to avoid bankruptcy. The UAW had ratified a second round of concessions that froze wages, cut retiree health care benefits and agreed not to strike the company for more than six years. All but a handful of lenders had signed off on the U.S. Treasury's offer of $2 billion to write off $6.9 billion in Chrysler loans.

Reluctantly, however, the leaders were recognizing the harsh decision Rattner made weeks earlier: Chrysler was filing for Chapter 11, no matter what.

Rattner had met with Ron Kolka, Chrysler's chief financial officer, and told him how it would go.

I like how Bob Woodward, Dan Rather, all these truth to power types are nowhere to be found.

Our family has bought Mopar for the last three vehicles. I have no idea who are next car will be made by. It certainly won’t be a Chrysler or a GM..

Obamaloon czar checklist:

1) Is it unconstitutional? Check
2) Is it completely idiotic? Check
3) Will it hurt the country? Check
4) Will it help the dim-bulb-crats to steal the next election? Check
5) Could a high school grad (private school, of course) immediately see through the complete lack of logic? Check
6) Is the chief of this project chosen for a complete lack of competency in this area? Check

Good! Let’s go for it.

Signed, President ObamaLOON.

When I see an article about “bankruptcy” being sourced from a DETROIT paper....wel, the word “Schadenfreude” comes to mind.

You are SO right. Where are they now?

Imagine the mental gymnastics they go through to rationalize their faux courage.

I keep pointing out the same with the Question Authority button wearers whose buttons changed at noon on January 20, 2009 to Accept Authority.

Wonder what the Supreme Court will do with this. Bankruptcy is covered by Federal statute. I don’t see how actions taken ad lib by the White House can survive judicial scrutiny.

It is actually wifey’s new car. Her old one was a 91 Accord EX with spoilers and gold trim, black paint, with 190K on her. Nice car but she is getting kinda tired. I will keep her to drive around town and save mileage on my F150 with a 302, which will probably become a thing of the past shortly.
