NASA's Latest Discovery: Sun Heats the Earth
The American Thinker ^ | June 05, 2009 | Otis A. Glazebrook IV

Robert Calahan at NASA’s Goddard Space Center could be in big trouble -- for telling the truth. Here is a headline for an article in the Daily Tech:

"NASA Study Acknowledges Solar Cycle, Not Man, Responsible for Past Warming"

Here are some excerpts from the piece:

A study from NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland looking at climate data over the past century has concluded that solar variation has made a significant impact on the Earth's climate. The report concludes that evidence for climate changes based on solar radiation can be traced back as far as the Industrial Revolution.

Past research has shown that the sun goes through eleven year cycles. At the cycle's peak, solar activity occurring near sunspots is particularly intense, basking the Earth in solar heat. According to Robert Cahalan, a climatologist at the Goddard Space Flight Center, "Right now, we are in between major ice ages, in a period that has been called the Holocene."

This report may represent the third time that NASA’s DR. James Hansen, Al Gore’s point man on his AGW hoax, has had to backtrack on his claims that humans are responsible for climate change.

In the past Dr. Hansen was forced to admit that 1934, not 1998, was the warmest year on record due to a lack of standardization of weather reporting stations. Hansen also misstated that “October 2008 was the hottest on record,” largely because the data used repeated September’s.

That headline is priceless.

But somehow it’s the conservatives, not the liberals, who are branded as “ignoring science.”

Holy Shiite! I’m NOT paranoid!

For YEARS now I have suspected that giant ball of gas was up to SOMETHING.

Always rising and setting and rising and setting... I mean, where does it GO at night?

I was wondering about that big ball of fire in the sky warming up my cockles every morning. Has NASA discovered heat?

It took years and years for climate modelers even to consider variations in solar output into their ‘scientific’ models. Now it is only a very insignificant factor. Ever bit of variation the climate fear-mongers attribute to the sun has to be taken away from climate change due to green houses gases, which in turn makes the models less scary. And with the solar activity slowing down significantly, a global cooling period is much more likely. These global warming bastards don’t give a rats ass about the truth.

Has NASA discovered heat?

Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water - the 4 elements according to a liberal. NASA may well have discovered that fire exists outside of earth.

I am not sure, but one thing I have noticed too is that it is a lot brighter when that thing is up too. But I am not sure whether it is the man made clocks or the sun yet that really controls how bright it is. I am thinking clocks play a more significant role.

This should be good for at least a 500 million dollar grant to confirm these findings.

Maybe freepers should write the grant application?

A pity this won’t have wide circulation as it disrupts the Global Warming Thinkery thesis.

Which tends to make the other 4 irrelevant.

This is Conservative Junk Science. If the sun caused warming, how come we don't freeze to death every night? All us educated types know that 8 cylinder U.S. automobiles keep us warm overnight.
