Well....it’s about time something other than cigarettes was taxed! Cigarettes have been taxed to death to cover everything from sports arenas to SCHIP.

I’ve long said something like sugar or toilet paper should be taxed to pay for these things....the costs shouldn’t be saddled on just ONE consumer product...spread the burden.

Hey! Don't 'squeeze' the Charmin!

Seriously, what Constitutional authority does the FedGov have to be doing the things they claim are the reason for levying these taxes, anyway?

That is the question, not "what should they tax?", but "Why in the heck is there a tax in the first place?"

There’s some actress who wanted us (the little people) to stop using toilet paper, you know, for the environment. My father didn’t grow up with it—they used leaves and corn cobs in the outhouse. No wonder he learned what poison oak was from an early age! But nothing would surprise me from these people. Sadly.

The logical extension of this is to have a single rate sales tax on all items so that there isn't some government official declaring some items sinful while others are virtuous. Spend how you want and the goobermint gets a (far more than) fair share of it. That sounds awfully like the FairTax.

How about get the hell out of my life!

Please tell me you were being sarcastic and I just am too stupid to tell. Please. Please.
