If Texas were divided into five states, I seriously doubt that all 10 senators would be GOP — remember, even the liberal enclaves would get to pick a couple. So it might end up 8-2 or 7-3, so only net the GOP a gain of two or three. Still, given the composition of today’s Senate, two or three is nothing to sneeze at.

Funny you used the term “wussified”. I typed the exact same word in my post before I erased it. I think we live in a divided America where people in states like Texas and OK would support secession as a last resort to maintain their freedom, while that the Americans in states that would be most opposed couldn’t stomach the killing of their own countrymen when they couldn’t even stomach a tremendously successful war half way around the world where we sustained only 4000 deaths, tragic as each one was. Nevertheless, I think state nullification of federal laws might be a more tenable position and achieve the same purpose. However, secession and the creation of a new currency may be the only choice if the American dollar hyperinflates.

You misunderstand our ideological opposites. They are not about peace, they are about control. They have the same definition of peace that the Soviets had - peace is the absence of opposition to communism.
No, they won’t just let a state go. They know the consequences. One goes, many go, and take a lot of folks with them.
And THE one thing that a leftist can’t stand is for someone to escape their thumb. They will use any means possible, including deadly force, to make sure that no one escapes. Of course, they won’t do it themselves and will demand the gov’t do it. That’s where it gets dicey... the military wouldn’t be “trustworthy” in this scenario.

Thanks, but I do much better behind the scenes...we’ll need a lot of people to set up our country so it doesn’t become socialist, like the Rump USA (RUSA).
I think the next step should be a state commission to look into the possibilities and have hearings...let’s see how serious Perry is.
Anyway, I am also interested to see what Kay has to say. If she giggles us off, she’ll find that she just giggled off any chance of taking the Governor’s Mansion. Perry has laid out an excellent litmus test for any Texas politician.
