Leonhardt doesn’t know s*** about history. People with a shallow understanding of history fall for the myth of the “super-efficient” Nazi regime. In truth, the Nazis conquered Europe only because their army had a very efficient way of fighting, and was fortunate to face far less ably led opponents one at a time. Once faced with an enormous coalition, they were crushed.
Economically, Nazi Germany was a total disaster. In fact, the only real description that fits the German economy for most of Hitler’s rule is “chaotic.” Just as Hitler’s regime was. It was NOT a sustainable economic model and needed a war to keep it from collapsing. It was not until Speer promoted economic decision making at the factory and enterprise level that Germany began making substantial increases in military production. That was 1944 and by then the war was already lost.
Fascism, as state control of nominally private enterprise in the name of “efficiency” is anything but that. In fact, it is always chaotic and unproductive.
And Leonhardt does have one thing right; 0bama’s economic policies do mirror Hilter’s.
