Looks like the events are getting larger according to the seismic charts, I wish there was a low light camera available to see what was happening, or an infrared sat image. Yes...it's a shame there's no IR on it.

I saw it (The 5th eruption) also, watching the webicorders at AVO. Then it showed up at the RSAM readout -
Later AVO posted a comment 2009-03-23 04:37:08 Another large explosion is occurring at Redoubt
I used to live in Anchorage, but now in Virginia. I marvel that I can sit here, watch the events on the web, catch my Twitter alerts, and know that friends are still asleep in Anchorage, not yet aware that this has happened.

I am 140 miles NW of it, the ash plume just passed to the east of me and is reported on the ground and still falling north of me. Looks like its slacking off again, we should get some images soon from the hut camera if it hasn’t been covered up, otherwise the other image is from the platform on the inlet.

Images are still three hours away. I have been watching ReDoubt most mornings. There in Anchorage last time it blew.

I was living in Anchorage in 1992 when Mt. Spurr erupted and dropped about a third of an inch on the town.

Yep - Remember that one also. Went to Carrs to pickup up my daughter from work. It was mid-afternoon, but getting dark very fast.

Good. I would have hated to give bad 3rd hand advise to Kathy.
Good luck up there today.

Now it looks like the webicorder near the summit has quit reporting - Flat Line, while the others are still quite active.

You are right it looks like RSO has a problem, I am looking at NCT, it seems to be talking the most.

I've gone back to Kenai Radar, and selected enhanced version, instead of standard version - It brings Java into the mix, Fun to watch. Move around to the various loop presentations. Occasionally you see the spike out of ReDoubt
More Weather Radar
I keep checking the long range weather image out of Fairbanks. They should start showing ash on their radar soon.

Just now received a Twitter message from AVO confirming that RSO went down at 4:15am. No longer transmitting data. It sat on the SE side of the slope.
Wonder if mudflows washed it away
Waiting for daylight :-)

I’ve had FNC on all morning - all they talk about is the economy - I am so sick of hearing it.
Not one word about the volcano. My daughter called and informed me about it, as her husband’s brother lives in Anchorage. He said after the first eruption, they ran to the store - and it was chaotic (guess everybody had the same idea.)
