True most hospitals do have some type of computerized medical records, but not all, and most dr's offices DO NOT have computerized records. go to your dr's office and look at the charts. to put everyone's medical records in a huge fed database will take yrs.

The ACLU attorney who fought for allowing her to be taken off life support is now part of the Obama justice department.

But we cannot allow government to even start recording our health records that we pay for privately. I know that some state paid medical is recorded and they have a patient advocate and that is the payoff for free healthcare for them, control.

A friend of mine works at the federal office in SF in IT, he said no government computer program has ever worked smoothly, including IRS, and he said the health records will be a fiasco for years.

I plan on making it worse than a fiasco. Government needs to butt out of my family and loved ones life period. I am not asking for anything from government nor is my family so leave us alone.

This is just a beginning, Rahmboma has plans for endoctrination of our babies at birth. Birth to adult education. The ties to parents are too strong to break so they want them young so they are easier to brainwash to their marxist ideology.

Internal records at hospitals I am not worried about. National government records is a big problem.

Hey!

I called the White House comments line today.

I told them that I was part of the two-thirds of Americans
that are OPPOSED to this “so-called” stimulus bill.

If Obama wants an Economic STIMULUS plan, take a look at
HISTORY!

—JFK cut taxes in the early 1960’s to stimulate the
economy. It created jobs and INCREASED $$ to the Treasury.

—Reagan cut taxes in the early 1980’s to stimulate the
economy. It created jobs and INCREASED $$ to the Treasury.

—Bush cut taxes in the early 2000’s to stimulate the
economy. It created jobs and INCREASED $$ to the Treasury.

Uh, do you see a TREND here, Mr. “Present” ??

If you TRULY want to stimulate the economy, study these
pieces of history !!

Take out the PORK! Obama was incorrect when he said there
is no “Pork” in the “so-called” stimulus bill. Take it OUT!
I specifically told the lady to take OUT the ACORN stuff
and ...

The National Healthcare stuff !!! I told her I was totally
OPPOSED to this !!!

If you want to voice your opinion regarding the “so-called”
Stimulus bill, call the White House Comments Line:

Meekie, I'm afraid Hussein has NO clue what drives an economy. All that jerk wants, is increase the DUmmie voting base with more give aways. You can't tax or spend your way into prosperity. Here is their motto.

VOTE DEMOCRAT
IT'S EASIER THAN WORKING

You people simply are not thinking “outside the box”. Sure, a few old people will be effectively murdered by the State (may IT live in perpetuity). But think of the potential for cleaning up other problematic social “tranches”. For example, do we really need Democrats, or would the country be better off without them?

Oboma (Stalin) is already planning on putting them in government working camps (he calls it "community service"). His "community control" police force (his personal army) will make sure they complete their daily allotment of bricks.

(I guess there IS a silver ling to every cloud.)

If I were a British citizen under Natl Health Care I'd be dead many times over.

Hussein has been in office a month and, a news junky, I can no longer watch Any news, including Fox.

I never thought there’d be anyone more destructive than Clinton and yet Hussein far surpassed the horror in moments.

God save us!

One other consequence will be people NOT seeking medical help they need because of privacy concerns. I don’t want my medical info on a “government database” and I doubt most other Americans do either. Like others have said, one of the problems is lots of people are unaware...a number of whom voted for this POS and may be difficult to convince.

Herbal, holistic, and homeopathic alternatives will become huge businesses. America is going to be like the old Soviet Union. The alternative medical services would do a much better job than the government system, because less people would die.

The Democrats are going fix Social Security by killing old people. No one should be too surprised by this. After all, didn’t Nancy Pelosi say that people are a drag on the economy. Less people, more money!

Stalin, Mao, Hitler (National Socialist Party) ..... All of them had totalitarian control over the population, just like the agenda of the democrat party of today.

I tried to warn people that Obomas' agenda was just like Joseph Stalins'.

My husband will not watch the news no matter what. He cannot believe what the media has done to this country. I heard on Glen Beck that a lot of people are tuning out because the country is headed toward hell overnight under this democrat totalitarianism, and they just cannot watch it happen.
People really are freaking out, but the Republicans in Washington are making sure they keep their peace of power and pork pie.
We are government slaves. Nothing more. Our job is to labor for the greater good of our totalitarian regime. They need to feed.

Well said! Thank you!

I may set part of your quote in type:

We are government slaves. Nothing more. Our job is to labor for the greater good of our totalitarian regime. They need to feed.

Who is the pork now?

...A computerized medical records database has a very high cost savings and error reduction rates available...

Am I thinking of something different here?

No, but you are thinking wrong. A government records database usually adds greatly to cost and reduces service, as proved by several US and UK government agencies in the last few years.

Error reductions are made by fiat. If something is not approved, it is an error to do that. Stopping people from doing that (even if effective) will be counted as error reduction. Killing a patient by denying them therapy because they are old will not be an error. Treating the old will be an error.

The odds that the more important decisions made from this database will be political than medical are close to 100%.

Private market? Sure, but it's likely to be limited to non-essentials like breast implants.

All doctors will likely have to justify things like treatments for osteoporosis for an elderly patient.

After reading this article, I did a little research. It does seem similar to what was proposed by GWB, although it seems far scarier in the hands of our present administration. I agree that this isn’t a great idea. I do think the potential for error reduction and efficiency are real, they just aren’t justified by the risks.

Error reduction comes from the ability to access information quickly, rather than depending on hard copy files that may be locked away in the doctor’s office. If you are in an accident on Friday night, the hospital may not be able to access your medical history until Monday. It also creates one record that is complete and that may contain information that has been forgotten by the patient or remembered incorrectly.

The cost is probably less tangible, but I would think that the ability to access medical records online would save a substantial amount of time for medical professionals. Of course the systems cost money that is mainly incurred by the physicians, who are not likely to benefit tremendously from the expenditure.

Personally, I don’t want my records in the hands of the governemnt. Whether we end up with socialized medicine or not, I just don’t trust them. It will probably cost 5 times as much for the government to do it. Maybe a private company. I am not really sure how I feel about that.

It is like a witness against you without the right of cross-examination. All you need is one doctor to write down that you are a hypochondriac, and you are toast.

This is a strong issue with me, as auto-immune diseases like lupus or sarcoid or CFS or fibromyalgia are hard to diagnose and often start with small problems. Too many of us were told that it was all in our heads, or we just don't exercise enough etc. Not being able to find a new doctor who can look at it again without bias, we'd be lost.

As it is, in England right now, CFS has been branded a psych problem, and NHS docs can't treat it any other way. Yet, there are medical treatments available showing success. If antibiotics cure it, it's not a psych problem. In England, you can go to a private doc to get an alternative treatment, or maybe with some fudging an alternative diagnosis. At least now you can.

And, should they die in service, they’ll still vote (as Democrats, of course)!
