Sarah Palin endorses Texas Gov. Rick Perry for re-election
Dallas News ^ | 2-2-09 | Wayne Slater

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has endorsed Rick Perry for re-election, calling him the "true conservative" in a primary election showdown with fellow Republican Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Palin, who electrified the GOP base as the party's vice presidential nominee last year, has strong support among the party's social conservatives. Her endorsement appeared aimed at undercutting Hutchison's appeal with GOP women. Both groups will be important in picking the party's nominee in next year's Republican primary.

In a letter to "Texas Republican women" distributed by the Perry campaign, Palin touts the Texas governor's conservative credentials.

"He walks the walk of a true conservative. And he sticks by his guns – and you know how I feel about guns," she said.

Palin cited one of the Perry campaign's top issues – opposition to federal financial bailouts. And she singled out Perry's opposition to abortion rights.

"Not every child is born into ideal circumstances, but every life is sacred," Palin said in the mail appeal. "Rick Perry knows this – it is at the core of his being."

The L Ron Paul, Chuck Baldwin and every other fringe group’s goal is to divide Conservatives along with the
DU Trolls.

Gov. Palin is our best chance to push back at the Liberals.

Check out her official web site, she does not support the package. The report today was a repeat of the AP story which is totally BOGUS. I called the Governor’s office today, the receptionist was shocked that such a story was floating around, she said “Didn’t they see her official press release” obviously they did not

Perry saw what Palin did for Chambliss in Georgia, and he wants some of that Palin Effect in his campaign. I’m betting that she will get a substantial number of requests for endorsements between now and 2010, and from 2010 to 2012. If her PAC is well funded, she can pick up a lot of political IOU’s, giving endorsements, donating to campaigns, mobilizing volunteers, and maybe even campaigning in 2010.

Thanks, SB.......I figured as much. But when I heard it was on Glenn Beck’s show I admit it made me nervous.

Kay Bailey voted for SCHIP last week and wasn’t Perry against it? I don’t consider her vote on that very conservative.

Good point.

Texas also proved that you didn’t need a full time legislature either.

Apart from finding new ways to spend the money they extort from me, I don’t see any possible need for permanent state legislators.

No problem, everyone I know already emailed Glenn to tell him to retract the story. Also, if you go on Michelle Malkin’s web site you will see as of Jan 13th Perry, Palin, and Sanford were all on the same page in regards to the stimulus package, all three are against it
Also, why am I reading such hate on Perry, from what I have seen of him, he seems like a good guy, and Kay Bailey treated Sarah like crap when she was introduced as McCain’s running mate, what goes around comes around Kay Bailey

What is with ole Kaye??? Why run?

Hutchison hates Washington DC and was persuaded to not run against Perry the last time because of fears the GOP would lose control of the Senate - probably with Karl Rove doing the talking. Now, that’s not an issue for her.

So, she’s been eyeing the Governor’s Mansion for a long time and this is the opening she sees.

BTW, Perry is already campaigning against her and has already dubbed her “Kay Bailout Hutchison” as a way of reminding voters of her recent record.

I am not always sure they are entirely accurate, but according to OnTheIssues.com:
Kay Bailey Hutchison is a Hard-Core Conservative (their label).

Rick Perry is a Centrist (again, their label).

I am sure our Texas Freepers have their own opinions.

MICK QUOTE: ".....on another post here someone mentioned they heard on FOX that SP was endorsing

*************************

Hey Mick, you know how I feel on this. LOL

She went to DC to go to Alfalfa- She needed cover in Alaska, so set set up this stimulus meeting as Alaskan business. -

She should have never go into that cesspool, she should never hang out with McCain and his machine, she should never trust the Establishment. NOw, they're backstabbing her. I'm pretty convinced she's against the stimulus, but the Washingtonians are spinning her.

Obama had it right -"Good to see Gov. Palin here. I never expected to see you palling around in this crowd."

So, because of her visit to Moscow on the Potomac, now stimulus became topical with her, and she's being portrayed as a RINO. I don't think she is, Mick.

Hi mick,

Also check out Michelle Malkin's article today. She gets it right on Palin's position.

Link

Lot of lies floating around about Palin and the stimulus. What a surprise.

This is what Michelle Malkin wrote on January 13th, this could be a reason why she supports Rick Perry

“Sarah Palin- Governor of Alaska- Governor Palin is getting her head ripped off by the new US state senator Mark Begich because she is not asking for anything more than the typical road projects already supported by the federal government. These are projects already requested and approved by the federal government.

Palin says requesting what she calls non-formula projects, like those Begich suggests, could lead to, “....unhealthy practices and results that often occur in the Congressional earmarking process.”

It is a statement that some say sounds similar to those Palin used on the Vice-Presidential campaign trail.

The letter ends with Palin telling the congressional delegation, “...beyond my purview as Governor, I also urge you to consider how the economic stimulus package will affect the national debt and the future economic health of the country.”

Palin is standing her ground and not requesting anything more than she would any other year. There will be several city mayors and such that will work around her and try to get more money.

Mark Sanford- Governor of South Carolina- just like Governor Palin, Governor Sanford is not asking for anything additional. Just the typical projects that are already funded by the federal government for project already approved. Of course, the mayors in his state are already trying to work around there governor just like they are in Alaska by making their own requests.

Gov. Mark Sanford blasted such plans as wasteful and told CNN anchor Wolf
Blitzer on Sunday that President-elect Barack Obama’s proposed stimulus package
is “a horrible mistake” with “dire consequences for the next generation.”

Palin and Sanford are on the same page and both are warning of the future consequences of doing this.

Turns out, three governors were leading the charge against the state bailout.

Guess which three governors?

You got it. Governor Sarah Palin, Governor Mark Sanford and Governor Rick Perry.

Republican Govs. Rick Perry of Texas, Mark Sanford of South Carolina and Sarah Palin of Alaska, led a spirited debate about the pitfalls of adding to the $10.7-trillion federal debt. They warned that the U.S. economy could collapse.”

Hmmm, who do I NOT want to vote for the most.
KBH is no conservative, but then neither is Perry.

KBH lost me when she refused to campaign for the Republicans against Hillary in the 2000 NY Senate race. Something about not wanting to campaign against another woman...unbelievable.

If she is for that disastrous porculous, then my days of supporting her are over. If so, she’s out to bankrupt this country, just like the rest of them.

She’s just prettier and trying to bankrupt us, just like Obama is blacker and trying to bankrupt us.
