Let's see... President Bush is a Texan, with Texas diction, and isn't particularly articulate, and the lip-reader was hired/interviewed by the Sun....

I don't agree that Pres. Bush is inarticulate or, at least, that he was always inarticulate. Below is a link to a video that compares George Bush 14 or so years ago to George Bush 4 years ago during the debates. The video is anti-Bush, but it does show the rather stark difference between his speaking ability then and now, and I've wondered if he hasn't suffered some health issues in between (the video tries to suggest the onset of dementia, but that's BS. The possibility of something like Lyme disease has occurred to me, though. If I recall correctly, Bush was treated for that at one point during his presidency).

Take a look and see what you think.

I was unaware that he had Lyme disease, my thoughts were maybe he has a slight stroke from the coughing incident with the pretzel he choked on...remember, he did pass out....

I meant that as a term-of-art. He fails to move his lips slightly more than the average Texan of his age and apparent health.

So do I. I mumble because I can't hear myself because I spent too many years around jets and loud weapons.

"Articulation requires moving ones lips". "Projection requires speaking from the diaphram".

I guess they don't teach those classes anymore.

I think the difference has a lot more to do with bush speaking as candidate for gov vs bush speaking as POTUS. A pres has to weigh every word he says with care. A candidate for gov of texas can exercise a much lower standard of care.
