Inauguration Watch [Live Thread]

Posted on 01/20/2009 5:06:54 AM PST by kinsman redeemer

I feel compelled to smell the sour milk. I must do it.

Might as well have a place to vent.

Reporting for Duty. Whoops, that didn’t come out right.

That wasn’t so bad. He blew the oath twice, the speech was unimpressive, the poem was a joke, and the benediction was racist. All and all, not a bad day.

I stood up until the helicopter was out of sight (well, until they cut away from that shot of the helicopter). I will miss them.

Agree with you but happy he said it. The stupid white liberals might just have been startled by the ‘when white would embrace what is right’ comment. Excuse me but did the MESSiah not get all the liberal white votes? Everywhere I look, it is obvious to me that it is about race - even Don King jumped on board. Few black conservatives spoke out against BO. This isn't historic...just affirmation that racism exists and primarily in the black community.

lol...believe me..there is a part of me that says just put it under a bush and let nature do her thing. Now I have a bird in my greenhouse and will worry about it getting in the heater tonight and catching the whole thing on fire.

Shrug....

So - what did I miss? LOL! Just got back from a COLD 5 mile run around the area just south of the beltway (Huntington). Traffic is light, lots of pizza delivery going on. One person honked and waved at me around noon - pretty funny! Very little traffic on the beltway or the roads leading in.

One thing out of the ordinary - homeless people hanging out at bus stops. Sometimes I see one or two but there were at least a dozen. Shipped out from the District?

Now for a hot bubble bath. Instead of music, I think I'll listen to the police scanner.

Will do. Thanks for the reminder.

If you can find it stick it in this thread.

Haven't found it yet. In the meantime, you can enjoy this doozy. (Again - this is not from THE inaugural poem.)

Marilyn Nelson, a former Connecticut poet laureate, has written a poem for The Courant to celebrate today's inauguration of Barack Obama as the nation's first African American president.

Like us, the future will thank all the names

People use for the One,

For making this remarkable young man

To lead America toward our highest aims.

May his greatness grow with each tick of the clock:

Barack, Barack, Barack, Barack, Barack!
