What, I wonder, would Ernie Pyle have to say about this “war correspondent?”

And plumbers that report from israel? Should that be part of their job description?

Absolutely not! That job should be assigned to landscapers or roofers!

imagine Joe would support the idea of a “fair and balanced,” objective press corps that actually delivers the news, but that’s not what we have. Does the press have a right to access and disclose military secrets? I don’t think so.

Fair and balanced? Pelosi and Joe should get together. That sounds like a defense of the Fairness Doctrine! As to your other point, are you saying that the U.S. has an obligation to protect Israel's "military secrets?" I miss the day when conservatives were actually skeptical of big government. Perhaps those days will return when Obama starts cracking down.

Acckk!!! No, I would never defend the “Fairness Doctrine” - I meant “objective” - that’s probably better than “fair and balanced.” :)

And no, I don’t believe the U.S. military has an obligation to defend Israel’s secrets. The press doesn’t have the obligation - or the right - to disclose them either. As to U.S. military secrets - well, is there a limit as to what the press may access? What happens when the rights of one group (the military) intersect the rights of another (press)? Here’s where an OBJECTIVE press would be a good thing.

Let me get this right. He is calling for press censorship and people here are actually praising him?...so much for suspicion of big government.

After watching the video, the guy is definitely being used by the people paying him, but he's a grown man and they are probably paying him well.

As far as the comments he made on the video about reporters not being allowed to cover the war, this is probably somebody who prefers to have the politicians tell him how things are going. I may not like the coverage that some networks have of the war (CNN, Fox, MSNBC all come to mind), but for all of those crappy reporters and networks, you have people like Michael Yon who do a good job of bringing us the story.

I will happily allow the CNN, Fox, MSNBC, etc. exploit the wars we are involved in, as long as we can also hear from the Michael Yons of the world.
