Did you see it in person? I taped it and watched the whole ceremony. It was great

I keep getting requests from the RNC for donations, but they are not getting one red cent from me

No, I only watched it on C-SPAN. I wish I had been able to be there, but I think the invitees were very limited.

The President made a point of thanking Dick Cheney and also Donald Rumsfeld. He was obviously moved by the tributes, as was I.

As I said, at least the military values him and knows how to say thanks. The RNC is made up of a bunch of ingrates and I refuse to give them another nickle. I will give my money to the Bush Library, instead.

The troops just love the President

They will show respect to the "messiah", but that is all

What a wonderful thing that the military did for their
Commander in Chief!

Do you suppose they dread the next one? He is so anti-military!

I can’t remember what the exact percentage is from the military that has doubts about him, but it’s quite large

60 percent either has their doubts or really don’t like the idea.

Thanks, Kas.

That was such a stirringly moving and touching ceremony,
made more so because Pres. Bush has such an obvious love
and honor for our awesome military, as he has demonstrated
so fully over these years.

My morning was so weepy watching and remembering.. and
I know he got choked up at the event. He chokes up, I cry.
It’s so sad to see him leave.

I loved the messages from the troops .. you can clearly
see how much they respect and honor him. It sadly won’t
be the same for them all too soon.

I think he’ll always make time for them in his life .. always.

If you remember in the Pentagon interview, he said
.. and you can tell he meant it .. it’s his obligation to
give them personal attention. They mean so much to him.
him.

I thought the Pentagon Channel did a great job ... and
it was a wonderful interview, with interesting clips and
tidbits, like Saddam’s gun, which will go to his Presidential Library.

I don’t remember ever seeing such a ceremony for another
outgoing President .. I certainly can’t imagine one more
lovingly presented by our fantastic troops.

God be with them and protect them and us all when he’s
gone from office. Too sad, too horribly sad.

Thanks kaslin for the dose, hoped to be around but was very tired. I have some news about dad met with OTs today at home have to clear the front room virtually which am making a start tonight with my friend Phil and need to get in 2 new electric sockets for the bed and arrange other electrical equipment. The equipment including hoist and bed will arrive hopefully on Monday.

It looks if all goes well dad will be home on Tuesday. Once again I ask for prayers we will get everything done and that there will be no last minute hitches for dad's release including medical reasons and also that the care package will be set up in time.

Many thanks
Eleanor

I know .. it's so darn hard.

This is truly a keeper, the whole ceremony from the beginning.

The Pentagon Channel

Scroll down and choose:

Armed Forces Farewell
Commander in Chief George W. Bush

on the right

Be sure to put it on full screen in the lower right of the screen.

O my gosh, the pageantry, the somber looks on his face close up ... all the emotion is right there. More tissues, darn it.

Thanks for the link. I wonder how Gates will look at “He Who Shall Not be Named” (that’s what my kids call him!) once he is in office.
