Not sure it’s much of a Biblical issue; it’s just fact.

The Philistines (”wanderers”) were from the Isle of Crete, or possibly Cypris (or both) (”Caphtor” in Hebrew). They raided all over the Mediterranian, not just Judea.

The Bible is hardly the only recordation of their exploits; they tore the whole area up.

(Think about the word “Philistine” and “Cretin.” Ever wonder why they mean the same thing?)

So why are they referred to as being from Philistia, which was on the Mediterranean, closer to Egypt than Cyprus? And a person from Crete is a Cretan, not a cretin. I’m not convinced.

I think you are confusing the Phoenicians with the Philistines.
