CHICAGO, ILL. -- Now that Barack Obama will be moving to the White House, his seat in the U.S. Senate representing Illinois will have to be filled.
That's one of Obama's first priorities today.
He's meeting with Governor Rod Blagojevich this afternoon in Chicago to discuss it.
Illinois law states that the governor chooses that replacement.
There's already been speculation about his selection...from Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. of Chicago's south side who co-chaired Obama's presidential campaign, to recently-retired state senate president Emil Jones, to the governor himself.
It's likely the governor will make his decision quickly so the new senator will get some seniority before newly-elected senators take office in January.
Part of the timing depends on when Obama officially vacates his senate seat.
KHQA's Alexis Hunt is speaking with Illinois Senator John Sullivan today about his thoughts on that replacement process, his time working with Obama in the state senate, and if there's a chance Sullivan might play a role in the Obama administration. This thing is far from over. I’m not convinced that Pelosi and others are not Adviser A, B, etc. Hopefully there are more surprises coming. Wonder when Blago gets to meet the feds to start cooperating?
I believe Rahmbo will be the next one indicted. These wimps are going to start singing like canaries.

CHICAGO - Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs Director Tammy Duckworth hasn’t met or spoken with Gov. Rod Blagojevich about replacing President-elect Barack Obama in the U.S. Senate.
That’s according to Duckworth spokeswoman Jessica Woodward.

The proof of that pudding is that Blago, on tape, said that the MF(you know what that means), meaning Bozo, wouldn't give him anything for the senate seat. Ok, those words tell you that Blago and Bozo did indeed talk about the senate seat, that Blago tried to shake him down for giving Bozo the appointment Bozo wanted, but Bozo turned down the deal, otherwise how would Blago know that Bozo wouldn't give him anything?
This means Bozo is complicit in this whole mess because he didn't report it. Not reporting bribery attempts is a crime, Bozo is guilty and I believe he would have given in to Blago's demands in the long run if this investigation was not in the works.
My prediction: Blago is the only one on your list going to prison.
Probably also some other local/state IL pols, but not the national pols you name. That’s wishful thinking.
I have not seen anything to suggest any of the others you name are going to be in Fitz’s net.
Someone leaked about the wiretapping to the Chicago Trib so that the investigation would be rolled up early, and I doubt that any of the others you name are caught up in it.

Maybe Durbin found the required pony to up in an offer to Don Blago and team O, but #5 already had a bigger pony that was saddled and ready to ride.

I was in the audience at another time when Director of VA Duckworth visited Quincy and was quite impressed. I do think she would be a good choice for Obama’s replacement in the US Senate.
Is there a way we can influence the governor’s decision?

Obambi has managed to stay out of other Chicago/IL scandals - I doubt that he let Blago get to him so directly about this. It was probably conducted through a cut-out, and Obambi’s rep may well have acted pre-emptively to say “we are not making deals, we are offering our gratitude only”
They know what Blago is all about — I doubt that Axelrod let Obambi get caught up in this. There’s plenty here to pursue, but it will be a miracle if Obambi is ensnared directly in this. Still, if Obambi had any conversation(s) at all with Blago since Nov. 4, whether or not of a corrupt nature, it will give the lie to Obambi’s claim that he has had no contact.

Durbin goes on record that he’ll call for a meeting with Blago about appointments, throwing out Duckworth’s name. (Deflection? Set up?)
O resigns senate seat which ramps up Blago’s decision process. O distances himself from Blago. Jarrett pulls name from list of candidates.
During those three weeks of wire taps missing from the complaint, was Durbin negotiating with Blago? Was it a set up/sting, using Duckworth as the pawn? If Blago didn’t return calls for 12 days, maybe he was on to Durbin.

Hmmmmmm.....very possible! Excellent scenario.
Or Blago was using Duckworth’s name and the possible appointment of her to get #5’s people to pony up more than Durbin’s clowns had (or hadn’t).
My head is starting to hurt now and I still need to do some Christmas shopping today....lol. It’s a good thing so many excellent people in the ‘new media’ are looking at this thing with a healthy dose of suspicion because the MSM is doing nothing but providing cover for the ONE and themselves!
What if he did report it? Not that I'm defending the guy, but someone with Obama's ego would not take kindly to a shake down. He's the President-elect (and has his logo to prove it) for pete's sake and he's gonna let some punk governor tell him what to do!!!
